What size are the bleeder screws on rear drum brakes on a 2005 TJ?

Hello Jerry, Thanx for the reply. Actually, they are 5/16, and my 6 point, 1/4 drive breaker bar functioned perfectly. I was surprised by the 5/16 size, as every other fastener on the vehicle is metric. I was getting the "brake" red alarm light and audible alarm that there was an "imbalance...

TJ 4x4 transfer case shifter is stuck

Gentlemen, The 4x4 shifter on my '05 TJ is stuck. I removed the front driveshaft, removed the accumulated rust from and lubricated all of the external linkage. Nothing moves. Might some internal component be struck? As always, this forum is the best. Thanx, TJTony

Gentlemen, Recently, the brake warning light appeared and an audio alarm sounded on my '05 TJ. It was "An imbalance in the braking system" The brakes were functioning perfectly, no pull, nothing locked up, etc. I had parked the Jeep on a white plastic sheet to detect any leaking brake...

Can I swap my 3.07 gears into a 3.73 posi rear axle?

Freedom in 4low; your are correct. I am going to change the axle(s). I check CL every day and have posted a note at my local NAPA store, looking for good posi axle(s). I've already started lubricating the various nuts and bolts that will have to be removed. Fortunately, when I purchased my...

Can I swap my 3.07 gears into a 3.73 posi rear axle?

The issue was, that only the 3:73 posi was usable, the axle was junk. So, I was contemplating installing the 3:73 posi into my TJ, which has an oem 3:07 non-posi rear. The first negative that one of the fellows raised, was that my Dana 35 axle w/n accept the 3:73 posi w/o expensive work. The 2nd...

Can I swap my 3.07 gears into a 3.73 posi rear axle?

You are absolutely correct. So, to confirm, my current setup is the oem 6 speed, the oem 3.07 non posi gears and 31" tires. Most of my driving is highway and I am not experiencing any problems. Given the general consensus, that the 3:73 posi is of marginal value, I should continue with my...

Can I swap my 3.07 gears into a 3.73 posi rear axle?

Jerry; My TJ maintains 65 mph effortlessly at considerably less than WOT, UNTIL I start up the mountain (7% grade). Then, I must downshift, as 5th. gear is the only way up. The TJ 6th. gear is less than a 1-1 ratio and only good on level or slight upgrades. Btw, when I installed the 31s...

Can I swap my 3.07 gears into a 3.73 posi rear axle?

@Rob5589, The 3;07 gears were oem. Since I do largely highway driving, I retained them for better gas mileage, versus installing a lower ratio 4:10, etc. However, given the replies from this forum, not the least of which is from the TJ Moderator; Jerry Bransford, I'm wondering about the gas...
