What skid plate?

Fairly new to Jeeping, I'm working on getting my 2005 4.0 TJ trail-worthy.

Planning a trip to Buena Vista, CO this Aug with a friend of mine who is an experienced Jeeper. He says, among other things, I need a skid plate to protect my oil pan.

Recommendations?

FYI, I won't be doing any serious rock-crawling. This will be, for the most part, my inaugural trail ride so I intend to stick to the bunny slopes.
 
I'm the kind of guy that will drive around whatever is in my way if possible. I have a dent in my oil pan, not real bad but a dent nevertheless. I have dents and scrapes in my transmission plate and Transfer case plate. The size of the tires give you the clearence. The way I got all that damage was sliding sideways on rough terrain. When you get in trouble you lock in the all wheels and drive out, good luck with that.
 
You should ask what trails in BV, a lot of us frequent that area. If you're just getting into it I doubt you need an engine skid first thing.
My first trips on Chinaman Gulch were on 33s on about a 2.5" spring lift, 1" body with the stock skid.

My first skid plate was for my steering gear box, followed closely by my gas tank skid. Before I was lifted I used to bash those on lots of things.

@diggerwolf, If you're not planning to do any major rock crawling then the stock skids under your transfer case and gas tank should be fine.
