Sorry to keep beating a dead horse. I have been reading through the various threads on stereo's, speakers and amp's and I get completely lost understanding it all.

I'm looking for something that is a basic single din with BT and buttons that my fat fingers can use and also doesn't flash like a 70's disco ball. As discussed before the Jeep is not built to be a concert hall interior and it seem's like folks have had good success with different speaker and stereo combinations. It does not have the factor console with sub.

And that's all I'm looking for something that sounds decent (which I know is subjective) that will not kill my bank account even more. I can spend upwards of $500 which is probably way more than I need.

I have looked at the Clarion M508, Kenwood KMR-M328BT, Kenwood Excelon KDC-X704, JVC KD-T91MBS, VDO(Continentail) stereo's and even the BOSS 550B. Speakers seem to be between Polk and Kicker and there is quite the selection there. And is and amp needed. I would like to just use Crutchfield if possible. There inventory is up and down on what is in stock.

The PO put in a JVC head unit and Boston Acoustic speakers, I'm not sure if there was some type of amp under the steering wheel. I'm attaching pictures of the cut wire and fuse that is spliced into the ignition switch wiring.

Any help, guidance, or stop bothering us with this (I hope not) is greatly appreciated.

I'm running an Alpine UTE-73BT, plenty of power to run the CS series Kickers at freeway speeds

@voodooridr thank you for the information. The Alpine is one I looked at, unfortunately it's out of stock at Crutchfield but Amazon shows them available.

Seems like a basic simple setup, which I like.

your boston acoustic speakers are a quality speaker if they’re still in good shape. i’ve had several pairs in numerous vehicles. i bought an alpine head unit on ebay and while it’s a quality unit it’s the hardest thing to get set up. can’t recall the model number. also have another older alpine unit that i really love it’s simplicity. wish the newer one in the jeep was like it.

And you can attach an Alpine KTA-445A which will definitely put out enough volume and it will plug right in between the deck harness.

@Akitadog thanks something I will look at. Like the idea of plugging right into the deck harness.

I still would like to know if the picture of the power wire I posted could have possibly been power for an amp or something else.

12ga wire could power a 200w amp? I would trace it out to see where it goes.
That is not a good way to tap for power. I would definitely look to remove it.
