Has anyone removed the rollbar padding?

I have been debating taking mine off also because the padding covers are faded and look like crap. In my case Chrysler\Jeep did not paint the entire rollbar.

My last TJ had faded covers also, I took them off and soaked and cleaned them really well, I then painted them with fabric paint. They came out nice and held up great.

I thought about that also but I don't like when the fabric gets stiff/rough. I had a winch cover at one point that I painted and it got really rough.

I’ve been meaning to pull my padding and wash it. Maybe I’ll leave it off in the back, if I actually have painted roll bars!

Do it. Just need 1 size torx. With the impact I had the belt straps out of the way quickly.

What size torx? Do you recall off the top of your head?

For fun I pulled back my pads yesterday. She's a pretty, pretty red under there. I'm going to take off the padding and figure out how to hide the wire to the sound bar this week hopefully!

Was the seat belt torx screw tough to get out?

Recently took my roll bar pads off, and I have to say I do like the look. I'm actually thinking I may get the bars line-x'd now along with the cargo area. We'll see.

Took mine off and found the lazy S.O.B.'s didn't paint mine either. The only issue is all the brackets stick way out due to those foam parts under the covers. I would gladly cut off all the rear parts, but the next owner (probably my brother after I die) might want to have the rear seat back in. Then he'd have a heck of a time putting in the seat belts again.

I'm too tall to remove my padding. If I hit anything on the trail that I'm not expecting, it'll be lights out for sure.
