It's the largest of any land animal and is called an Oosik in Inupiat (Eskimo). They tried to give one to Johnny Carson (I think it was) when he came to Fairbanks, but he dropped it on stage when they told him what it actually was.

Yeah, I stopped at the knifeman’s place on the way to Wrangell and he was selling knives with them as handles. I got one with whale bone instead.

Figured you’d have a flute made from one.

I've got a lot of fun stories from living up on the artic ocean & getting to hunt with the natives. Whale, Walrus, Seal, Polar Bear & Caribou. Got to see a lot of neat stuff too plus I can say that I swam in the artic ocean.

I wish I had the opportunity to do that. It’d be fun for a while.
