Hello... I just changed the tie rod for a ZJ one to beef up the steering in my rig.. I went to the shop for alignment and I started hearing this hard "click" sound.. Like metal to metal... Looks like the drag link is hitting the part where the sway bar link connects But not sure about it... Do you know what could be causing this click/hit noise? Ps. The track bar is oem, I just drilled the bracket to compensate the lift.. Maybe later I will upgrade into an adjustable one.. I never experienced death wobble before nor any click noise before.. The only parts changed were the ZJ tie rod and the ends...

looks like the bolt holding it is cocked over low on the driver side. looks like it contacting a washer. take that loose and out of the way, see if that clears the issue. if it does you need to get that bolt to hold straight or bend that arm just a bit so it hangs level and out of the way. maybe the hole in the washer is to big and holding low or maybe it needs to be on the other side to hold the disconnect rod with less angle.

from the looks of those you maybe could use some new sway disconnects.

yes! I didnt notice, but it looks like the bolt is not on a 180 degrees right? looks a bit bent... may look overthere..

how can you tell if I need new sway disconnects? I have never understood how to "diagnose" them.. thanks!

remove the bolt and see what those rubber bushings look like, if they are chewed up or bent all out of shape it's time for new bushings. it looks like it's pinned in there, the end should be able to spin on that bolt.

if you take that apart it maybe could go back together differently and work ok. the bolt would have to go in the other way and you'd need another nut to fit.

The problem was a loose track bar bolt.... It was causing my track bar to wobble.. Now is fixed.... Thanks!!!

ya, i thought it might be catching that swat link, that's what it looked like he was zoomed in on.
but now i do see the track bar moving in that other hole right at the end.

and if you look at the last pic close there are a few other odd things going on under that front end.

Did you drill an additional hole for the track bar?

yes, Previous owner drilled another hole for the track bar, I understand is part of the "cheaper" lift kits solution for "not needing" a new adjustable track bar, I have changed almost all of the suspension to throw away all the skyjacker stuff but, I haven't purchased a new adjustable track bar (I still have the oem with relocated drilled hole) because it is only about 0.3 inches off centered one tire from another (I can live with that for a while)

What do you see? I have never had any issues with my front end tbh, the only one was the clicking noise (reason of this thread) that happened to be a loose track bar..

I had the same temptation to drill additional hole, but then decided to wait for my metal cloak adjustable control arm.
