What other Rubicon owners with the 42RLE have done for skid plates?

Hello everyone!
I was wondering what other Rubicon owners with the 42RLE have done for skid plates. I’ve heard the transfer case makes a tummy tuck much more difficult, so what have y’all done to remedy this? I’m currently on a 3” lift, 33’s, and no body lift.

It's not tough, you just need to dent the tub a little on the left side.

I’ve learned that it’s never just one thing… there’s always 10 more things. Besides this flat skid, denting the tub, what else did you have to do? I was planning on a savvy 1.25” body lift, mml, transfer case shifter, and adjustable control arms

Add in a new rear driveshaft to that list and I think it's complete.

I’ve heard things about the rear shocks needing to be relocated, or a rear coil spring correction kit… did you have to do anything like this?

None of that is highly specific to raising the skid. But if you care about making little things work better, then yes. Basically, raising the transfer case requires that the rear pinion be raised. This adds more bow to the rear springs, which isn't necessarily a problem.

The real problem is that the rear bump stops no longer line up as well as they did before. Moving the spring seats is how we make the bump stops line up again. And coincidentally, the springs get straightened.

Oh yeah, that too. You can often just trim the spring buckets back a bit to clearance for the shocks. I'd say the relocation kit should only be temporary, but is another option.

What would be a better option? Personally, I’d rather do something right the first time and never have to worry again

Trimming the spring buckets is the preferred option, short of an outboard. You gain a good bit of clearance back there with an outboard.

That is awesome!! This is where the whole do one thing… 10 other things follow. That would have to be something I bring it to a shop for.

40 other things follow. 😉

And there isn't a shop anywhere around here I would ever trust to do most of what I have done and plan to do.
 
You should start with getting rid of that transfer case drop and the other crimes that have likely been committed.

I finally got finished doing all of the preventative maintenance… flushed all fluids, fixed leaks, and such. Now it’s time to upgrade some parts, but I’ve noticed my low hanging skid is my biggest issue. I don’t really care to do a full tummy tuck, as long as my new skid can slide off of rocks no issue haha
