What purpose do these serve? This is my first Exogate install.

Thanks
Andy

They're to shift the carrier upward and out to accommodate larger tires.

I'm still running 31s but installed the MORryde in preparation for 33s down the road (cane across a smokin deal on a barely used unit) so I haven't needed to install the offsets yet.

I think they may not be necessary for all 33s depending on actual tire size.

Thanks so much Dave, I have 33’s so this is great to know. Thank you for taking time to respond.

They are also necessary for certain tire carriers. I had this hyline carrier on the stock hinged gate when I had 33s. I wanted to keep it for 35s when I got the MORryde hinge system, but it wouldn't fit because it angles upwards at the top which interfered with the rectangular tailgate reinforcement of the MORryde/Exogate. It works fine with the brackets.

Andy, I ditched those brackets and modified the stock tire holder to bring it up and in on the Exogate. I cut the top part off where the bolts mount the carrier and welded a piece of flat bar under it and a piece at the bottom of the carrier. It took a little bit of work to get everything set up but the 35” tire is right up against the gate.

How long have you been using the stock carrier with 35s? I ask because I ran 32s for years on the stock carrier/hinges, but when I switched to 33s, the carrier started to crack after about a year, so I moved to the HyLine carrier pictured above.

That's a great fit you have there, by the way.

I swapped this over a about a year ago. I had purchased a rugged ridge carrier but that pushed the tire out about 4” which defeated the reason I removed the swing out carrier. I will keep an eye on the stock carrier and build a stronger one if it starts to crack.

Nice, I like what you did the stock carrier.
I think it helped that I have a1.25” BL as I have a mounted 35 on the stock carrier with the Morryde. Maybe 5k mi and a hand full of wheeling trips with it like this. No cracks or issues that I see.

That Hyline carrier works quite well with the Exogate if you just elongate the mounting holes up about a 1/4” to move the carrier down and eliminate the interference .

I too have 1 1/4” body lift. I did want it high and tight and the brackets that came in the kit just pushed it out too far for my liking. I did also make a latch to hold it open on an incline.
