Driving with leaking front axle seals?

Nothing fancy, this is what I used (my versa pusher) to install my front axle seals other day. When I pushed them in the metal plate on right was evenly positioned on the diff housing and the threaded rod was horizontal.

I have the fancy pantsy tool and I'm not too far down the road, but I only have the 21st and 28th off until well after New Years so no wrenching parties for me. Welcome to grab my tool (😄) if you you ever get up tis direction though.

I've always struggled thru the same way you showed on the video. I've vowed to buy/ make something more specialized for next time. What are your thoughts on something like this?

I don't have anything against a tool like that. I just think I'm saving time by knocking it in the way I do versus adjusting the screw out and then tightening etc. It's really quick when I don't have all the crap in front of me and also trying to film at the same time. I always talk about it after the fact but am always to busy to build something.

Well, if you can wait until January and can do Wednesday/Thursdays, my garage has the special tool, a beer fridge, a propane heater, and an @Irun that lives around the corner 😁

I'd be there in a minute to support a brother or sister in need. We are a community and that is who we are! 🤩

I really appreciate all of the VA love and help offers. (y) I've always had issues asking for help of any kind. My brother lives 2 miles away in a $1,000,000 house, we get along great and he would help me with paying someone. That's just not me. My wife says I'm crazy/stupid for being that way. Maybe, maybe not. Great people on this forum and I appreciate all the help offers. I wish I was wired differently.🤫

I felt the same way for a long time. Then I realized it's not bad to have someone else help occasionally, especially if they ask to do so. Long story short, someone offered to help me once and I discovered that there were people in the world that just like to help others, because it's their way of giving back. That individual has been my best friend now for over 32 years. Had I not ever let him help, I'd have missed out on getting to know a genuinely good person. Years after we met, I was able to be there for him, when he hit hard times. ;)

Do it, let them help you. It would be a good time.

You didn't ask. Just relax and accept it. 😉

Seriously, this.

@WHBNM offered to let me use his garage when I did my body lift, mml and TT. He also stuffed me full of beer and burgers. And you know what? Doing it in a garage instead of in a carport when it was in the 30's out was awesome!😆

You know what else was awesome? Hanging out with another Jeep-head, bullshitting and turning wrenches for a day. I know for me (and I suspect for him) it was less a chore to do the work, and felt more like... well, hanging out and bullshitting. We just happened to get some productive stuff done in the process!

This is one of the greatest aspects of our hobby and typically goes unmentioned. It's the icing on the cake.
