Clicking behind glovebox and now won't start

Started it up recently and noticed a clicking behind glovebox briefly while the heater was on. Turned the heater off and immediately stopped…. However, now it won’t start back up at all. No power to the instrument panel with the key turned, no headlights etc. battery testing strong at 12.5 volts.

Any thoughts? Maybe a fuse or relay? Thanks in advance.

Load test the battery at a parts store. A battery can show 12 volts but not supply current sufficient to start your Jeep

no headlights on a good battery is where I would start. Check the wiring (and fuses) around the PDC under the hood as a good starting place. The headlight wiring doesn't run behind the glovebox, so I'm wondering if that heater issue didn't cause a different problem that resulted in a short somewhere else (thinking something like a fusible link?).

But also check your grounds. There are 2 ways to make it so nothing turns on: one is by disconnecting the positive side of the circuit. The other is by disconnecting the negative side of the circuit.

There are two wires coming off the positive post of the battery. One goes to the starter and is twice as thick as the other one. Follow the smaller one over to the black box that holds all of your fuses. It should be mounted under the lid under a ten millimeter nut. Make sure it’s connected there and has 12.5 volts at that nut.
Not a dumb question just learning your way around your Jeep. 😀

Start off by checking the battery terminals remove them clean the terminal and battery posts and reinstall. Clean and tight is how they should be. Then check power to the PDC ( fuse box under hood) here is a bolt with wires from the positive cable attached. Check for power at this terminal. There should be battery voltage at this terminal with the key off, key on and when cranking. Use a test light or volt meter for this test.

Ok, here’s the latest update:

I went ahead and put a new battery on as a precautions. PDC connection is testing strong at 12.5 at off, battery, and when cranked. Any other thoughts on how to continue to diagnose?

So, it will crank now but not start or was it doing that before too? Headlights are nice and bright, even while cranking?

Sorry, I meant PDC gets power in crank “position” when testing voltage at PDC. Still no power to dashboard. Doesn’t try to crank. Headlights or dome
Lights won’t turn on either

Check fuse 6,13,22 under the hood but good to check them all if you have a test light just check both sides without removing them.
