Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

And as I just said I've BEEN SEARCHING and haven't found any thicker gaskets than what I have already. And I've looked everywhere. And I've emailed 2 companies and got one reply that No they didn't make anything thicker.

Ahhhh, Rick, ahhh, ya know the Hemi doesn’t use intake manifold gaskets…. Just sayin’…

🙂

(Couldn’t resist, Brother. Hang in there - you’ll get it)

I have seen that done before. It worked. I wouldn't do it with a blown engine, but we're talking NA. @Wildman keep that in the back of your mind as an option.

I've got a set of 0.125" Cometic intake gaskets coming. Right now I'm trying to decide if I want to try ONE more time with stock thickness gaskets or wait for the thick ones to get here.
I guess I could wait until Friday to put the engine back together but I'm inpatient as HECK plus I'd like to know if I was just getting it cocked wrong.

from the pic it looks like both sides the top of the intake ports do not have much or any grease there. Just below the fuel injectors. I noticed the mounting holes are on either side of the ports but not sure if when at full torque that the manifold is not bottoming out on something leaving that area open. When thinking about it, it changed sides after reinstalling it. I think it is bottoming out on one side or the other preventing the top to seat properly. I would do some blue dye or the putty or wire method but not on the gasket face but now on the bottom edges of the intake. There might be a hump somewhere that is holding it up.

I wonder if the splash tray could be hitting the bottom of the intake? That square area right in the middle? But you'd think I'd hear it scrap on it.

Give Paparock the prize. The oil splash tray was the problem.

All I can say is that the intake manifold set on better than it had the last two times.

Edit: that piece of metal is stronger than it looks. It isn't bending down from the pressure of the intake.

The splash tray was to help keep the hot oil off the bottom of the intake. But it doesn't fit with this manifold. It was made for the kegger intake.

I'm a non-Apple person and Ryan you know that. I've never had a problem up until this last update on my Samsung galaxy phone.
