Hi everyone.
This is my first post as I recently bought a 01’ TJ and I’m new to the Jeep community

i noticed coolant spraying from somewhere and figured it was the radiator. I had a shop replace the radiator and I’m still getting coolant spraying on hood etc. I took it back to the shop and they pressure tested it and couldn’t see where it was leaking from. It seems like it only sprays when driving and not sitting idle. The shop told me to drive it over the weekend and see if it’s still leaking and if so they’ll replace the radiator again. Well its still spraying coolant. They don’t think it’s a leaky head gasket. It doesn’t overheat.
any ideas on what to check? Anybody in Yuma AZ area that can help?

thanks in advance

Was the radiator cap replaced too, and if it was did it have the specified 18 psi pressure rating? Is there any coolant dripping from the front of the engine block, from behind the big pulley?

I'll recommend that you clean your engine bay first so that it will be obvious what coolant is new and where it might be coming from.

I have a small crack in my overflow bottle, when a road gets bouncy it comes out, and then obviously the fan sprays it around.

I did replace the cap with a mopar one after I thought the one from Napa was leaking
i don’t see any coolant by the pulley. When I do see wet coolant it’s on the lower hose

How about the hose between the filler neck and overflow bottle?

The end that is attached to the reservoir seems to always be dry. The end attached to the radiator I thought was leaking until I put a zip tie on it instead of the clamp.
My hope that it’s a bad radiator since the first one they put in was leaking right away from where the bolts attach to the bracket so they replaced same day with another
My fear is that it’s something major. Something causing pressure to build? They said it pressure tested fine. I was told by someone else today that pressure testing these radiators can cause a fail?

Do you still have the same leak you started with? If so, I suspect the water pump was the culprit originally.

I don’t have much knowledge at all about this stuff, so I’m gonna ask the dumb question… you sure it’s coolant? It seems like you’ve already checked a bunch of things and can’t find it. Any chance it’s something like washer fluid instead? Probably a dumb idea and some obvious reason that I’m wrong, but worth a try asking🤷‍♂️

Definitely not washer fluid.

Also not sure why it has the blue coolant…I plan on flushing and putting the orange g05 in it hopefully when they replace radiator again

Wouldn’t it leak at the pump and/or overheat? Shop did say it looks like the water pump was recently replaced

Yes it would leak at the weep hole behind the drive pulley but it could be that it only does it under pressure take a peek at it and see if there’s coolant there after a drive. It wouldn’t necessarily cause it to overheat but you weren’t overheating just leaking, correct?

No overheating…interior temp gauge stays at 195
Ill take a drive tomorrow and check the weep hole
Thanks for the pic!

I can’t see any weep hole…my water pump looks a little different.
