Hooker Blackheart catback exhaust

Arrives next week and then I need to schedule between horizontal snow storms, blowing sleet and freezing temperatures!

Checked the tracking number and Tuesday night by 7 pm. So maybe Wednesday!

Just had to crawl under my Rubi and drop the front driveshaft due to angry sparrows, but it's 75 here...

Suns out here. 66°. Wife’s mowing the onions. I’m staying out of her way and enjoying some sunshine.

Done yet? Actually how Is that muffler routed internally -example a U bends or S shaped routing through with perforated pipe,

S bend and perforations.

My cherry bomb was welded on with too many tiny pieces.

Going to the local exhaust shop tomorrow to beg for a 6" scrap piece of 2.5 exhaust. Kit came with 2.25 to 2.5 adapter and clamps but all combinations end up an inch short.

Made a clean cut and inch off the CAT and going to add 6" of pipe and then everything will fit.

Tomorrow should be miserable weather too!

That muffler case looks short like 16”? , if so you should - with the simple S - be making some throaty noises with minimal back pressure. My guess is notably loud under full throttle but quieter/smoother than the cherry bomb!

I'd say about equivalent to the cherry bomb. SPL meter read about the same db through the curve although idle was about 4-5 db quieter.

Clamps were a PIA and leak. I'll either weld them, replace them with v bands or ignore it for now.

My hangers are also hard and need replaced.

Had to extend the pipe off my CAT because the PO had someone weld 4 pieces to make the cherry work...I just "welded" (don't look too hard... should have pulled the whole thing off the Jeep) on an 8" piece of 2.5".

What’s the final verdict, is it worth it and is the sound tolerable? Doesn’t seem like it changed much volume wise from the Cherry bomb, but how does the tone compare?

Ton less droney at highway speeds... volume was reduced enough that I realized I was getting a ton of wind noise from around the soft top half door uppers...so I put some 1/4" poly rope inside the window trim and that helped tons.

I think I can remove the ear pro from the cab.

I need to weld up all the clamps...none of them seal at all. Also none of the clamps bolts were long enough...had to use a c clamp to close the clamps up enough to get a couple threads started.

Otherwise it tucks up nice and high and tight on everything. Very happy with the sound.

Editing videos today...might pull a clip from snow wheeling before and after and post it.

I’d definitely be interested in a before and after video
