Hi all, I have been lurking around this forum ever since I bought my first Jeep this past March 17th. I decided to bite the bullet and become a supporting member. This is my first Jeep but I am not new to 4x4. It appears the owner I bought the Jeep from didnt know too much about the parts on it. Ive been doing a lot of research to figure out what is on the TJ. Luckily it is rust free other than your typical surface rust. The owner stated in his FB marketplace post that the TJ has a 4" lift, SYE, Bilstein shocks, rhinolined tub, new kicker speaks, and tires have only 3k miles on them. When I purchased the Jeep it had a CEL on. The owner did mention it was the upstream o2 sensor and he had not gotten around to replacing it.

I went ahead and replaced both upstream and downstream o2 sensors with NTK, replaced MAP with NTK, Replaced IACV with Standard, replaced TPS sensor with NTK and I was still throwing a code. Ended up checking the fuse box and the owner had wrong amp fuses in wrong places and didn't have the correct fuse for the o2. I corrected all the fuses and the CEL has been off ever since. It is running very strong.

Now onto the fun part, I was looking into doing the ZJ Tie Rod upgrade and noticed that someone had installed a dropped pitman arm and the track bar appears to be aftermarket on my TJ and still has the original TJ tie rod. I am wanting to rebuild the front end and any other suspension components that looks suspect. I don't have death wobble but sometimes when I'm in 1st and 2nd gear and hit a bump it tends to wander but then chills out. I've never done a pitman arm myself and neither has my YJ enthusiast friend. I believe the 4" lift is Rough Country based upon the color of the shocks (can someone on here confirm this for me?) Please take a look at the pics and let me know your thoughts on what parts I have that I haven't identified and if I should do the whole ZJ Tie Rod upgrade or if some parts are still okay ie the aftermarket track bar.

Pictures attached and thanks for any help.
-Andrew

Its not clear to me that the pitman arm isn't stock. Better pics of arm from side and of whole front end from the front might help. Dry steering test and close inspection of all tie rod, drag link, control arm, and track bar ends would be good. Don't forget to check for play in ball joints. Finally, in addition to evenly worn tires at the right pressure, proper toe and caster are important.

Shocks are Bilstein not rough country. Could be an old rubicon express lift but not sure. Removal of the pitman arm is easy if you rent the tool from an auto parts store.

total typo on my part, meant to say color of the springs made me think it was Rough Country springs

Thank for your help Jerry. As you mentioned, the Track Bar looking to be Rubicon Express it appears I might have the Rubicon Express 4.5" Super-Flex Short Arm Lift Kit - RE7000

I would go with RE as well. I would measure the springs as RE is known for being taller than advertised so it could be a 3.5 inch as well.

Was that supposed to be a good side-shot photo of the Pitman arm? ;) This is a good photo of a dropped Pitman arm. Note that not all dropped Pitman arms have as much drop as this one does. Yours certainly looks dropped though I could see it more easily in an earlier photo. :)

Ok good photo and that is good news, your Pitman arm is not dropped so it can stay.

thanks for identifying and letting me know...now back to the ZJ tie rod upgrade....since I have the RE Front adjustable track bar, should I go ahead and purchase all the moog parts minus the track bar or would it be best for me to go another route such as currie? again, thanks for all the help everyone

I'm no fan of the RE track bar's heim joint at the driver's side but you could make that a second-phase upgrade and just upgrade the tie rod for now. If the $$$ for the Currie (now known as www.rockjock4x4.com) Currectlync heavy duty steering upgrade kit is not a problem you'd never regret that decision.
