Looking for step bar recommendations for 2006 Rubicon Unlimited

Are you looking for a step that will also function as rocker protection or just a step mounted to the frame under the rockers?

Recommendations will be based on your intended use for the vehicle.

Welcome! Check out this thread here https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/rock-sliders-rocker-guards-guide.8704/

I also have an 06 LJ Rubicon and did quite a bit of research on sliders. Went with RockHard 4x4 sliders, which are manufactured domestically. I have not installed the sliders yet because I can’t bring myself to drill holes into the rockers so I can’t provide any feedback on the quality of fitment.

Drill holes, drill holes, drill holes!

They aren't doing you any good in the garage. Damage to your tub would be far worse! I know it's hard to make that first hole, but you'll get over it and never think twice years down the road as you carefully trim and cut other places (responsibly and carefully).

Avoid any "frame mounted" types which are not nearly as strong as those bolted directly to the tub. Yes that may sound counterintuitive but it's absolutely true. Those described as tub or body mounted will be significantly stronger and better able to protect the tub.

Is the LJ lifted or stock height? If lifted to anything more than an inch or two, sliders with a step incorporated are usually too high to be of any use as a step.

It has a 4 Inch Teraflex lift. Trying to reduce the number of ripped jeans lol

Thanks they look good - the help is much appreciated!

Given everything that always comes up in these slider threads, how are these a good looking set when they attach using the body mounts?

I flip the question right back at you, how are they not good looking? Good looking and tying into the body mounts are not related to my post. I never ever said they were the strongest or best design.

Also these sliders are drilled into the tub, and a secondary attachment is to the body mounts.

***Update

Also, I don't see you reviewing Kurt's products on that thread. Kurt is an off-road guy, small family shop, good dude etc. I'd love to see an official review. I have KDs front and rear bumpers and they are awesome, well made.

If body mount attached sliders aren't an automatic disqualifier by now then there is no point trying to explain it again.

Do you understand that any tub mounted slider with a step has you stepping higher than of you just put your foot on the floor of the tub? If your real concern is not ripping pants, then this type of step does nothing to address that.
