What did you do to your TJ today?

Not my TJ, but my father in law. Turns out he was driving his Jeep around without a rear shock for over a year. Put that back on.

Anyway, I’m digging into maintenance on this thing to get ready to sell for him. He paid like 8k to a local shop (who definitely ripped him off) for a frame swap, but left a bunch of stuff unfinished.

Thought I’d swap out the steering stabilizer on my lunch break, but it’s a carriage bolt that’s welded on this side and I can’t even get a wrench or ratchet on the other side because of the springs . Any suggestions?

I think I'm looking at the right picture but I don't see the spring as blocking access to the nut, nor the weld that's holding the bolt in place.

Got my seat covers mostly installed this morning.

Shout out and a huge thanks to @BonesXX (y)😁

(He also has what is probably the cleanest TJ I've seen since they were new  )

Covers fit great. Just need to fix a single strap on the driver side bottom and good to go.

I'm surprised and pleased at how well they fit the driver's Bestop seat.

It's there. Can't tell from this angle, but it's welded on the bottom and bold is longer than stock and comes into contact with the spring on the other side, so i can't back it off.

Raise the front of the Jeep and support frame on jack stands. Disconnect passenger side sway bar link and remove passenger front tire to let axle droop down and give you better access . Then it's sawzall, hammer and chisel, maybe drill it out time.

I kinda dig the Bushwacker style flares and always thought that when I got a TJ it would be one of the first things I'd add.

Now that I have one I'm not so sure if I want them or not.

Why are they frowned on?

I always thought they looked decent too. Bad reputation.

I installed Napier brand fender flares on my MJ. Really heavy duty and never cracked but I never beat them up that hard either. Thought it fit the period-correct build style I was going for quite nicely.

I had the old, flexible ones and they were great. My son has the new brittle ones and they're all plasti-welded and zip tied together

Looks like most of our Canadian jeeps. "Tis nothing but a flesh wound"

Surprisingly the frame is totally solid. Flushed and everything, the only real rot (...that I've found) is in the corner of the tub in that photo and it's only on the outer sheet metal, torque box is solid. Stupid design with no drainage in that boxed in section. Still undecided if I'm going to clean that up and patch it or just por15 and cover it in armor. If it really came to it I'd just tub swap the Jeep.

The front end cleaned up nice.

Anybody know what the purpose of this bracket is? On both sides, it's to the inside of the frame between the sway link mount and and coil perch. On the passenger side it's directly above the exhaust hanger. Maybe for assembly? If that's what it's for then I'll hack it off with everything else.

I cant take my eyes off your rims.

Last season is this year, since Kevin Costner bailed after his wife screwed him over in the divorce.
Beth is my ideal woman. Sexy, drunk, foul mouthed, strong and a good earner. Well, the first two are "must haves".
p.s. Note to ALL older guys with money!!!! Younger women ONLY want your money and for you to die early!!! Ask yourself this, How many 35 year old men seek out 75 year old women? NONE! Rich 75 year old women? Next to none, unless the guy is ugly too.

My 2nd favorite character is Beth.
My favorite character is NAKED BETH. 😆

I was thinking that too. I use a wrench the first time I replace bearings to seat the bearings then back em off and adjust like normal.

@kincaid.0678 They shouldn't be that tight. That may explain why you had one running hot.

That’s definitely a possibility as it had grease inside of it. I have it just tight enough to get the pin through it so hopefully this one will last longer lol

My mate (Who is coming with me) has friends in St George ( I think that’s what he called it ) we will be using that place as a base to go to the Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon aswell.
I would have liked to have gone further east to Moab but that will have to wait for another year

We stayed in that area. Near Sand Hollow State Park. We went to Vegas a couple days, drove to Hurricane, went to Zion and Bryce Canyon.

You can get on a SxS tour to the slot canyons by Kanab or Sand Hollow dunes by Hurricane.

It was 106+ F every day we were there. Take water.
