North Carolina List of Carolinian off-roaders

lol, no that’s high. I’ve seen some for 6-8k with 4.0’s and in decent shape from the pics posted. I scroll the facebooks everyday waiting for that find. I’m trying to keep it below 5k since it’ll just be a vehicle for us to fix up. Specifically Dow a 2dr XJ, TJ, or Comanche.

@BlueC , I’m going to have to back out of going tomorrow. A co-worker had a death in the family over the weekend and I’m going to cover his shift for him.

Would love to as I just got a new front DS; It’s a beaut! But probably can’t go til Thursday.

I really like my Tom Wood's rear DC drive shaft. I'll probably end up with a front one too sometime.

Same. Figured it was time to get the front. The 22yr old one was pretty stretched from the tuck and lift. The u joints were needing replacement so I figured I’d just get a woods shaft. Might be crazy or feeling things, but I feel like my steering has tightened up a bit. Maybe it’s just me.

Will and I took a last minute trip to Uwharrie yesterday, man that place was crowded. Lots of club stickers. Will counted 10 right here on the rocks of Daniel. We parked and watch a few before moving on. 10 in that group, 5 came up behind us, and we passed a group of about 10 turning into Daniel as we were leaving. I talked to the one person I saw leaving the top, and he said there were about 30 already at the top. We headed to Dickey next, which was also crowded, watched for a little while then headed home. We were there for less than 1.5 hr. :(

That's what I'm thinking. It was beautiful weather and just enough rain last week to keep the dust down. People camping everywhere. I'm going to squeeze in one more trip before they close. If we have good weather, it might have to be a weekday to keep the crowd down.

I’m off all this week if you happen to make it down sooner rather later

That’s why I like the week days. I guess it will suck someday if I’m alone and have trouble. 🤣

I'll keep that in mind. There's a chance I can do Friday, possibly Wednesday, depending on how work is this week.

I'll take the chance to avoid the crowds. You just have to pack for it. I always try to carry enough stuff to stay overnight if I have to. Water, socks, a pistol, beef jerky and a blanket, I'll get through. Also, bug and butt wipes, don't get them mixed-up. :sneaky:

New addition to the Jeep family! Got it for my son for a Xmas gift. It’s a 99 sport with a Dana 35, auto. Needs some tlc but the engine and trans work great. Got it for $6500 down from the asking $8k. Thought it was a decent deal! Here’s to another future TJ owner!🍻

Well, he originally wanted a fast car (probably for no go reason lol), so I looked at sedans like a civic si and was planning to buy him a beater Jeep to fix up for cheap.
He’s getting it on Xmas day, so he doesn’t know yet. Since he’s gotten his permit in aug he’s been driving mine, so I think they are starting to grow on him. Mine is manual too so he’s learning that aspect before he gets into the automatic, so he won’t be so frustrated driving lol. The lady had bought it for her son but I guess he wanted a car for whatever reason. I don’t understand kids these days wanting a little car, sure they are good on gas but jeeps are so much cooler and fun to drive especially in the summer when you can strip it down. We obviously all know that

Will and I went to Uwharrie yesterday and had a good day. It was busy, but nothing like Thanksgiving when we went. My latest strategy has been to go to the harder trails first hoping to beat the crowds. That kind of worked yesterday as I got to play on the rocks of Daniel, just me and some older dude riding an electric trials style bike. It was just wet enough for me to slide sideways and get high-centered, then smack the shit out of my gas tank skid. We went on up to the top and found a group of "tons n' 40s" bros trying to recover a Toyota with a broke axle. The guy on the electric bike rode up and down the face of Daniel probably 5 times in 20 minutes, making those tons n' 40s guys look bad. :sneaky:

We ended the day at the hill on Dickie. "Tons n' 40s" bros were leaving when we got there but some other club rolled in before they could get out, so that was a 5 minute situation with some people having no idea what to do. Also, that white Porsche was broken. I'm guessing it's still sitting there today and will be tomorrow, which should be closing day.

Edit; I forgot to mention I came across a kid (16ish) and his dad in a recently rolled YJ. I didn't bother them, as it looked like they had just got everything settled back down. IDK what happened, but they were sitting at the bottom of the hill on Dutch John and a Jeep with them was rolling his winch line back in. I had seen the YJ earlier and it wasn't beat up. :(
