We had a great time!

Lots of explaining to do @Alex01

@Lonewolf Has more photos I'm sure but near the top of winch will 3 the u joint exploded on the passenger side. Ive been exploding drivers side joints all season so this was a bit new. We hooked my winch up to a rig at the top of the obstacle and started to pull it up. The jeep was leaning hard into the rock and was within millimeters of taking out the half door.

We decided to add a strap to the B piller to pull it off the rock. After finally clearing the door the strap on the B pillar took out a door surround. At the same moment my winch seemed like it was binding then quit. It may have overheated since it did work later in the day.

Once we got it to the top we removed the inner shaft and shoved a beanie in the hole then proceeded to go back out committee crossing in 3 wheel drive.

@Lonewolf was down to 2 wheel drive at this time so we had to drag his rig through the crossing and out of the trail.

It wasa bit of a shit show but it was an entertaining day. I can't wait to get back out on a dry day next summer to finally finish the trail.

Trail conditions.....

I love the way @Lonewolf posts a picture of a rig that is so well known everyone knows who's it is.

And then @Alex01 comes back with " @Lonewolf was down to 2 wheel drive at this time so we had to drag his rig through the crossing and out of the trail "

:ROFLMAO:

5 wheel drive got us off the trail. I forgot just how much of a difference a front locker made. It also took me a moment to realize that I had to keep the front locked since it was just sending power to the side without a shaft.

Yea it was definitely a bit of a shit show but it was fun. I ended up breaking a RCV or the locker(still need to dig into it) and was able to limp it back to committee and Alex drug me up the hill which was no small feat! There was more snow than I was expecting as well.

WH3 doesnt look so bad in the photos.

Glad that side line was on. The jeep would have 100% been on its side and or the door would be gone.

I'm really getting my monies worth of the revolution warranty this year.

stub shaft is the one with the busted joint still attached.

They did last time because I'm using the ujoint they included with the kit.

I am wonder however if its time to either move to the stronger USA made version or go all out with rcv.

The downside would be that I'd just be moving thr fuse into the locker or axle shaft joints.

What do you think is causing these to happen again ?

Turning too much trying to find traction would be my guess. It only really happens when I have the wheel jacked all the way one direction or the other. The stops look fine and the psc doesn't appear to be in the wrong place.

When you replace that shaft put a washer under each steering stop bolt and see if the shaft breakage goes away.

You seem like an rcv candidate. Engine torque×first gear×5:1×axle ratio has gotta be laying down 10's of thousands of lb ft of torque to those shafts!

I pulled apart the front end and found I broke the RCV axle on the passenger side, it looks like the cage that fits around the shaft cracked and let the axle spin inside. I’ll call RCV and start bugging them for a replacement

Pretty quiet over here. Anyone got plans for a run this month? Xmas tree run maybe? Snow? Hello, McFly!

Hey Bob. I’m new to the forum and have been meaning to jump on this thread and say hello to the fellow local jeepers. I’m always doing mods during the winter, but I won’t pass up a chance to throw it together and take it out. I’m trying to to perform a mallcrawlerectomy on it. I’ve been riding solo for a while and would love to go out with other jeepers so I can test myself and my rig more. I look forward to when some of us can get together.
