2005 LJ....pulling the dash to replace the heater core and when I pulled the dash back this part fell down. Any idea what it is and what it does? I dont yet know how it actually goes back...thats tomorrow.

just throw it away. it was a anti-theft thing that bolted on the back of the factory radio.
Seriously? If that's the case I'll just get rid of it. I've got an aftermarket radio and I didnt see that it was connected to anything.

I thought it was for support and grounding.
Mostly support since it's a Jeep.
The factory radios are heavier than most aftermarket ones.
I've always heard it was for anti-theft. I've never seen one hooked back up after that 10mm nut has been removed . have you ?
Anti-theft only in the fact that it's a pain in the ass to get to it.
Also, why nobody puts it back on.

I've got a cable attached to the engine block to protect mine !!!!Anyone who steals that radio deserves what they get.
