hi all. 2005 91,000 miles. first time this happened i was in the red Empty zone, needed gas. My emissions light came on, (stays on, not flickering) and jeep was bucking when i was getting up to shift into third and fourth then it drove ok during a steady speed. I got gas and the bucking stopped and emissions light went off on its own. I put on a new gas cap after this, didn't help. 2nd time i was low on gas, all was good until i got gas, 3/4 tank, then the emissions light came on and jeep was bucking only on acceleration, i pulled in parking lot and unhooked battery then when turned jeep on emissions light off and no more bucking. This last, time i had a full tank of gas, burned 1/4 on interstate, got off and when doing a slow country road turn the emissions light came on again and next stop the bucking started, not like last 2 times, gentler. I got home, undid battery and light went away and no more bucking. Currently driving around fine. All of this is in a span of about a month. was hoping it was just due to low gas tank, unfortunately this last time there was 3/4 tank and it gently did it. Spark plugs are maybe 5,000 miles. im not smelling gas. Dont know where to start first, any ideas would be great! thank you

I know they have Check Gauges and the Engine Malfunction Indicator or what we call the Check Engine light. I didn't know TJs had an Emissions Light.

Before you start Jeep next time, check out all the light gauges, mine is on the right hand side directly to the right of our odometer button pusher.

I don't see an Emissions Light.

Yes! The malfunction indicator light, #19. When I looked it up my owners manual it spoke of emissions, that's what stuck in my head. Yes my malfunction indicator light comes on. I will see if I can change my post, so not to confuse anyone else. Ty for the catch

Anyone who reads post, I was only able to change the title to Malfunction Indicator light, that is the true light that comes on, not called emissions, I wasn't able to go into rest of post to change from emissions. I apologize for any confusion

You need to read the codes.

When the MIL is on, turn the Jeep off. Then turn the key on off on off on quickly, but don't start it. The codes will display in the odo.

Or you can go to most any parts store and they will read the codes for free.

Unfortunately light has not come on when I'm near an auto parts store, I went after the fact to grab some other things and they checked it then, but nothing. I'll try out the key on off and look at odometer, thanks, never knew all the codes came up on there.
