New to trailering my TJ Unlimited.
I wanted a 16-ft hauler, but ended up going with a 20 ft equipment hauler. I'm really glad I did because it gives me room to move the Jeep forward and backwards to get a good Center of Gravity. I noticed where it is now is a little too forward, more weight on the hitch, causing my headlights to point higher, blinding incoming traffic.
Of course I had to watch some YouTube videos on the best way to strap this thing down and I'm pretty happy with the results.

Nice thing about a 20' trailer is flexibility.

That and if the tow pig dies you can always tow it someplace (close) with the TJ.

I think if I replace my 18' dump trailer I'd do 28' to 32' so I could tow two Jeeps.

I have a 16’ dovetail. I wasn’t looking for a dovetail but it happened along and I bought it. I couldn’t be happier. Room for the TJ , a tool box and with the dovetail I don’t need ramps. Plenty of room to position for Weight.

What's the price range on a trailer like this if you don't mind me asking? Is FB marketplace the best place to look for these?

I think it would vary by market area.mine was two years old when I bought it. 16’ with dovetails, ramps, brakes on both axles and breakaway battery equipment. I paid $3k. I found it on marketplace. Every time I go toTexas on business I am amazed how much less trailers are compared to Arizona.

I bought my 18’ dovetail that was aluminum with a wooden floor for $4k piled it 10,000 miles and sold it for $4k.

I bought a 16 flatbed wood floor trailer in So Cal about 6 months ago for 3k. It is nicer than a Carson trailer. Prices have come down since Covid when I sold a 12 foot single axle enclosed trailer for $3500 which I paid $1200 for 20 years ago.

I shopped around for about a month locally, mostly online, but not Facebook marketplace. This one was $4850 out the door with a 30-day temporary tag put on by the dealer. They also service the trailers. This beat everyone else with that type of trailer or similar by at least $1,000. The first trailer dealership that I checked out had the 16 foot version of this for almost $2,000 more.
 
I've been seeing some decent deals on trailers on marketplace in my area(16-20' for $1000-3000). I have absolutely no need for one right now but it sure does get tempting to buy one for the deal. Plus, if you have it, you'll use it.
