Have searched and can't find the write up for removing the dash ... need to pull it tomorrow and possibly replace the dash wiring ...

Found it in the service manual .. took a bit of jumping around but ...here we go ... this will be different .. wish me luck and thanks

Sometimes people will keep the steering wheel on and just suspend the dash on bungees. For your wiring repair I think you're going to want to remove the whole thing, which includes removing the steering wheel. Just fyi.

You got this.

Not exactly instructional...but if you want to see two dashes removed...

I took the extra time and removed the plastic from the metal frame so I could paint the frame.

Try to keep your screws and bolts organized when you remove them. Write notes for where they go. Maybe even bag them. There are a lot of them and some are different from others. My suggestions is don't start until you are ready to keep working on it.

Yeah I'm not much on that .. wish I could write it all out and make it sound nice but my grammer is lacking big time and I'm not good at wording stuff to make sense

Well dash is out, wiring harness is on living room floor ... looking everywhere and not finding anything .. could do the old cut and splice ... but would rather have non damaged harness ... any ideas please help

Best I could do for you is search some of my local junkyards...but they're pretty brutal about wiring and just cut it out of the way.

I have a 2000 dash harness with the gauge cluster connector hacked off...was saving it because I also have the HVAC box JIC I have to convert my 97 HVAC controls.

P.S. Update your profile with your year and engine. I wouldn't even know what to ask for with just that tag.

I ordered and entire dash harness for my '05 from Davey's. Look them up and give them a call. My dash is supposed to come out this next weekend to do a harness replacement, so I'm right behind you. Hopefully the steering wheel will come out okay as I'm kinda in the dark about that one.

Steering is easy ... take out one bolt on the shaft and then 4 mounting bolts a couple wiring plugs and she pulls out easy peasy oh if its auto there a shilt interlock but its 2 little screws ..look in the how to section here and download the service manual for your year jeep ... complete procedure is there ... easy to follow .. took 1.5 hrs to have the harness in the living room floor

Mine was not a rubi harness. Mine cost $100. Seems like everything rubi is a bit more spendy...

Thanks for explaining the steering removal and setting my mind at ease that it's rather easy overall. If it took you 1.5 hours, it will take me 3-5 hours!

Do you have an 03-04 or an 05-06?

OK like mentio

OK like mentioned .. lock the steering with the wheels straight before removing the colum ... do not turn the steering wheel while it's off the jeep it can mess up the clock spring .. it's mentioned in the service manual ... I read it like 3 times before I started
