Wheel Color

It really only depends on what you and your wife like. I like the color myself. I would much rather have the Golden Eagle though, or even a Tomb Raider Special Edition than trying to paint my Jeep some modded out custom job, especially in my garage. I prefer original, and you know that a Golden Eagle looking like your first picture would be a sin beyond sins to modify.

I'll opine. Like many others have expressed, it's your TJ, so build it how you like it. It is not possible for me to care less about how anyone else feels about how my LJ looks. Likewise, I try not to judge others' choices (sometimes, that is very difficult!) Worrying about popularity is exhausting, and life is short for an old feller.

That said, I think if you're on here asking for opinions, you are having second thoughts. Listen to that voice - it's the real you fighting it's way through your noggin'! :ROFLMAO:

I played with trying to keep the lip silver. I am unable to get a clean sharp line with masking tape. I could take the paint off the lip and leave it bare with clearcoat it, but if the clear fails, the lip will corrode. I am going to keep it all copper with the silver lugs and center cap. If I get tired of it, I will pull them off and go with a different color. it will warm up enough today to finish getting primer down and warm enough the next couple days to colorcoat. I ordered a can of 2k clear, it will be here this weekend.

Don’t forget to post pics of them on the TJ!

When are you getting an angry bird grille?

Amazon has them in stock. ;)

My brother is building a '78 dentside Ford into an offroader. I sent him one off of Amazon, because we joked for years that a barefoot gas pedal adds at least 10hp.

When it showed up at his door, he called me, absolutely HOWLING. He couldn't stop laughing about it.

Once he calmed down and could breathe, I asked him if he was actually going to put it in his truck. He said 'Fuck yes, I am!'

Best $20 I've spent in a loooooong time.

Looks like I am going to go with A General Grabber HTS 255-70-15. It's an all season highway tire with light offroad capability.

Size wise, it is 29" tall and slightly wider than the oem 30 9.5 15.

It looks like a good compromise between a tire good for the type of off roading we might do and a tire short enough so my misses can easily get in and out of the jeep. 65,000 mile treadlife and not to noisy on the road.

Now I am on hold for the weather. Wheels are ready to clear and it is overcast and too cold to paint outside.

I bought these wheels 26 Dec and still do not have tires on them.

I guess I will spend my Saturday morning drinking coffee, petting dogs and having breakfast.
I have a pile of parts and projects that are half done and waiting on warmer weather. It's snowing again here.

If I ever get out of NY my next house will have a barn size heated garage

When we bought the TJ, I named her Barbie. Now, I don't give a rats ass about naming vehicles, but my misses likes to, so I play the game.

Our TJ was bought new in the Orlando sales district and has spent it's entire life in S. Florida. She likes the name Orlando. That works for me, she like Orlando Bloom, I like Tony Orlando.

I plan on replacing the 255-70-18 tires with 255-70-15 tires. The 255-70's run $155 each at Discount Tire. Around here that is the best price and service for tires.

I see 265-75's are the same price as the 255-70's.

Since the TJ is tall and white, now I am thinking Brianne of Tarth is a more fitting name.

So, shorter tires, Orlando. Taller tires Brianne of Tarth.

I never named a vehicle before either. But, some funny guy at a job I had, commented and said that I had a real nice buggy there. So, I thought "Snow Buggy", and the name stuck. I even created and ordered a custom front license plate with that name surrounded by snow tipped mountains in the background. The name then became official. I actually had a spare custom tire cover in white, with the face of it fully covered with the same picture, but it got too stained and I haven't ordered a new one. I covered the front plate with an acrylic cover.
