Rubicrawler installation problem

I believe it is saying to use the screws that were previously removed from the old transfer case shifter assembly.

"Bolt the shifter box assembly down using an 8mm socket and the bolts that were removed previously"

Also, here is a good pic of how the cables need to be routed.

That’s what I assumed but figured asking didn’t hurt

No sure what text is blocked out.
I waited until I was sure all the cables were adjusted correctly
THEN
I put the butyl tape the shifter box/ drive train interface then installed it and bolted it down.
Despite the above I still needed to do some minor adjusting of the threaded barrels after the test drive.

I didn't see this thread til now. In my build thread, my install shows I broke the Snap ring pulling the Spud shaft for my Rubicrawler install. Glad you got it done though. I'm a tech for a living with a little bit of transmission experience and shop access. And it still took me 4-5HRS to install the Crawler. I did do my SYE at the same time, but I'm not counting that part. It is an involved install.

I was using a high end 1/2" cordless gun and a snap-on puller cross bar. It started to become difficult to pull, as I had been forwarned. So I stopped for a second and then gave it the full onion of power from the gun and pulled the spud shaft over the snap ring through the splines. 🤓

I think it would have been helpful if Advanced Adaptors had given a "heads up" about having to overcome the snap ring when pulling the spud shaft. I used the second method and only succeded after having made my third puller out of 35mm box section with a 5mm wall thickness. It let go with a loud bang.

Took about 15 hits with the hammer, the key was to put two hands on it and hit it as hard as possible. I did this on my back on a creeper. One handed wasn’t enough force. Last 3 hits were the two handed full force method. Much like using a steel post driver for those that have driven a post in the ground.

one other thing I found frustrating was the top cap screw of the barrel clamping collor.
Once the shifter box is installed if you need to adjust either of the barrels its impossible to get at the top screw of the three screw set that hold the clamping collor

I have driven posts. Even recently..... ;)

I'm a cheater with my tools, used one of my snap-on bolt grip puller sets hardened bolts(lifetime warranty) threaded into the spud shaft and gorilla'd mine off. I blew through that part like a junk yard dog. I just wanted mine installed so badly.

I really would not have wanted to use your method, and I praise your manly strength and follow through good sir! But have done my share of ground work I will say. Pulled more than one motor-home transmission outside on the ground in the summer.....

Looks like I didn’t get the bracket to bolt the rubicrawler cable to the side of the rubicrawler. I need to call them Monday for other missing items. Their packaging of everything sucks.

Got a lot of other things going on so been trying to put in a half hour every now and then and I think 20 minutes of that time ends up being trying to figure out their instructions.

Talked with AA today, I got some random part that had nothing to do with the rubicrawler instead of the bracket I needed. They are taking care of it, good people.

shop installed rubicrawler and i have been drive it around and found that when i shift into drive i get a humm noise before it shifts, also have a noise in rc of a sloshing sound any thoughts

Am I supposed to remove the snap ring or leave it in when removing the spud shaft?

Someone sent me a custom tool for the removal and said the spud shaft will come right out with an impact.

But I don’t want to mess things up so I want ask in here before I do something stupid. I plan to install a RC in about 2-3 weeks.

If you are referring to the snap ring that holds the spud shaft in, it will break apart when you use the puller to forcefully remove the spud shaft.
