Another NSG370 issue

Why a new driveshaft? That CV joint can be rebuilt for a lot cheaper. When I started hearing those "angry sparrows" I took the driveshaft to a driveline shop and had them rebuild the CV joint with a greasable centering ball. Yes, it is a pain to grease that thing but as much as I use the Jeep I only have to do it once a year. But as long as I keep maintaining it, I doubt I'll ever have trouble with it again.

With as much lift as @Viking Jeeper has, if he’s running a stock shaft he should get an Adams or Wood’s shaft simply for the increased spline engagement as well as for longevity/reliability. The length won’t be much more, but the engagement will be.

I dont mind buying a new DS. I plan to have this Jeep when I die, hopefully not anytime soon.

That’s my feelings as well. I am at 4 inch suspension lift and have noticed a little vibrations at speed so I have no problem spending a little more for a new shaft. I plan on keeping mine for awhile too.

I'd be concerned about size. Nv4500 sized trans need a ton of tunnel work or a dropped skid

One website shows the TR-4050 installed with a modified stock skid that is dropped about an inch. They actually cut the skid and the trans hangs down and is exposed.
I couldn't image installing that trans with a bell up skid.

When I talked to silversport, the supplier of the kit, I was told that the original skid plate is used without modifications, but it is very tight. If that’s the case than a tummy tuck skid won’t work. But when the time comes I will do some sleuthing to verify fitment.

Why? Just convert to the AX-15 or an auto.

Since I am the OP, I'll just say that if I wanted an auto, I would have bought an auto. As for the AX-15 if it had a deeper first gear I would consider it. Only clutch and standard shifting for me thank you. And I found a Tremec blog and it has been stated that the TR4050 has smaller dimensions than the NSG.

Typical response of a manual driver. Might want to re-check those dimensions. The Tremec is “shorter” (19.5”) than an NSG370 (23.5”), but it’s not smaller since the Tremec weighs 164lbs and the NSG370 weighs 89lbs.
