Car pics too cool not to share

Quite possibly....but if I'm not mistaken, it was also the cheapest to build by a remarkable difference. Cheap horsepower is always going to have a following, well, until internal combustion engines are outlawed for us common folk...

I had read many, many years ago that the SBC was also dimensionally similar to the Ford flathead V8. This was considered a factor in the early transplants, as it would physically fit into the space previously occupied by the less powerful flattie, or anywhere that the flathead V8 could be placed. As previously mentioned, cost and availability of aftermarket parts was also taken into consideration. As for it being the "best engine around" (a statement made which appears to have prompted your response), that's purely subjective. That's like saying Taylor Swift is the best singer around (I think I just threw up a little bit...) ;)

I'm with you on both (Did you watch the Swift/Kelce Bowl? I could give two fecks... :D ).

Now I did grow up in a GM leaning household, but I outgrew the brand ignorance pretty quickly when I started going hands-on with vehicles. I even find merit in a fair bit of foreign stuff.

AS much shit I give a SBC believe me I used to want to swap one into a Jeep & owned 3 CJ5/7 with a SBC swapped into them. Of course at the time they were the better option for a Jeep. But as you said it just became so common place that it got OLD and the new craze of LS swapping anything and everything is the same.

I didn't grow up in a motorhead family so I had to learn on my own and from girlfriends fathers. I've owned a wide range of rigs thru the years and like you have had some fun with some foreign rigs.

I grew up in a Blue Oval family, but rebelled, and went full-on Mopar, and eventually AMC. Nowadays, I pretty much can find an appreciation for most anything. And yeah, I've flirted with the idea of forming a relationship with a British car or two, but I try to maintain some level of sanity, and therefore have never actually crossed that line.

I got to work on my fair share of British rigs when I was stationed in Germany. The BEST part was reading a British repair manual. I'd have to ask the owner to define what they were saying sometimes. They used words like pry in the books. And boot & bonnet.

Based on the postings in this thread, I suspect you gents like a bit of fabrication and custom auto work. As such, you might like this YooToob channel, in the event you're not already aware of it...

https://www.youtube.com/@retropowercars

These guys do some impressive work and it's a weekly watch for me.

I've never seen that channel, I'll give it a look. Here's a guy I like to check out when I have time. Japhands Kustoms is his shop. The man has some crazy metal skills. Recently he has been converting a '39 Zephyr 4-door-to-2-door, and chopping it.

That's a hydraulic-over-spring suspension in the truck, and the flame system is set up in a way that it can just roll fire while idling. None of that lazy rev it up and dump fuel crap.

2 wd S-10's and Ranger's and Mazda variants ;)

You know, I always forget about S10s and Rangers, even though I'm around them now and then. I guess I'm thinking hot rod = car. One of my friends had a ~90 2wd S10 with a Tuned-port 350/350. It was all stock out of a wrecked Camaro, but that was a peppy little truck. I don't need any more toys. :sneaky:

And Mazda is a no-go for me, I'm a Honda man.
