Don't know if this was covered, but, The Cars

This song was like nothing I'd heard before and I was hooked. Plus, it later made it's way into an unforgettable movie scene. You tell me what it was? :)

I liked the bold colors and patterns, and I loved my sheepskin jacket which got me the nickname "Adama" because of Lorne Greene. Wife had one of the brown, fringed leather jackets at the time - she still had it when I met her. But the stupid-ass bell bottoms and "Stove pipes" you can keep! And if pants of any kind were any more than 1/8" off the ground, they were called "highwaters". There was some brand of pants that I no longer remember that were the "in" thing among the girls, dunno if this brand made boy's pants or not.

Always loved this. Sitting alone in a darkened room, this one allows me to just exist, and nothing more...

I've never heard that one before, but I think one of my favorite bands took some inspiration from that song. (y)

I can hear it in the opening of the song. However, by halfway through the song, it sounds like he needs to attend an anger management class. Truth be told, that song could grow on me. It's enough to make my wife completely lose faith in my musical tastes! ;)

As both a Roy Clark and "The Odd Couple" fan, I approve, and actually remember that episode. Haven't thought about it years, I will admit, but every now and then, I pull up some RC music videos. Good stuff!

He was a master at his craft and a true showman.

Can't believe I missed this one, lost track of this thread; the Cars were easily one of the best bands to originate in the 70s, and that scene you're talking about was part of the best movie of the summer when I turned 16, Jesus what a time to be that age, we lived Jack & Diane

Anyway, Orr was the force:

Somehow I missed this thread. Having started high school in 1970, this whole thing was kind of a flashback. The good kind of flashback, though. But what the hell, no Ten Years After.

I'm a day late with this

50 years ago today (3/18/74), Rush released their self-titled debut studio album.

Written and recorded before Neil Pearl joined up; Rush featured the trio of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and John Rutsey on drums. The trio showed a hard rock Zeppelinish sound that would soon dissipate when Peart joined the band, yet the Rush favorite “Working Man” has proven one of their most enduring songs and was even the last song the trio ever played together live (8/1/15).

Working man is a great RUSH song.

Here's a bit of info regarding how RUSH went from a kinda local band from the neighborhood of Willowdale* in Toronto** Canada. This isn't the first article I've read about this, it's just the first I found today on the googler machine.

Donna Halper gave 'Working Man' a spin on WMMS

And what the heck is WMMS, you may ask? It's the station that WAS playing the best rock and roll music in the whole country...or maybe just in NE Ohio based on this snippit:

Anyway here's the Buzzard in the pre-digital mid 70s when the station was refered to as "WMMS 101 FM" instead of "100.7 WMMS" as I remember it.

And I have to admit that I never saw that ad until today so I never realized how much was stolen when a couple classmates designed our senior jacket logo back in late 1984.

Willowdale* and Toronto** lead me to ask,

Willowdale was mentioned in what song?

What song title mentions Toronto without using the name Toronto?
