Car pics too cool not to share

'67-'69 were the best years, '70-'73 weren't bad, everything after was kind of shit. I owned a silver '76, firethorn red pleather interior with red/white/blue plaid cloth inserts, I won't even get into the 305 cubic inches of boat anchor under the hood...

I liked 'em all up until the next big styling change, but yeah, the drivetrains weren't all that. Remember the soft cams that came with the 305? Quality stuff, that.

Does the OHC six reside in there?

No, but I wouldn't be sad if it did. My car is a 326 H.O., 3-pedal car. I don't remember the specs exactly, but it is a 4-barrel, dual exhaust with something like 10.5:1 compression, and someone told me they're a solid lifter engine. Of course, that only made 285 hp, just a mere 15 more than standard. :sneaky: My Pontiac Historic Society documents say there were less than 1200 HO cars built in '67. I can't remember if that was the number of convertibles, or if that was total H.O. production. I know it's a rare car. Of all the years I've been around cars and car shows (my life), I've only seen one other. The original owner had a reputation for racing, mostly street racing. He may have special ordered the car, but IDK.

I remember it had the power of 4 harnessed toddlers (it could barely get out of its own way) and had a nasty habit of stalling at the most inconvenient of times, rendering the brakes and steering quite useless. Surprise!

I also suspect it was carrying around quite a bit of body filler as well. The aforementioned '67 Chevelle Malibu replaced it and just like that the sun was shining a little brighter in my world...

And all this time, I thought the early HO cars were the OHC sixes. Were the 6-cylider engines called the Sprint, or was that the model name when the Firebird was so equipped?

Remember the early 80s Camaro that had the Iron Duke 4-banger in it? Nothing screams "cool" like a Camaro with under 100 horsepower (90, or something like that). Ewww...

That was sad , but just remember the folks in Dearborn thought that the Cobra II would set a new standard with a 5.0 V-8 that would only put out 140 h.p.
from double the size of the Iron Duke . 10.5 seconds 0 - 60 m.p.h. all wrapped in a Trans - Am style tarted up Pinto.

I never really disliked the Mustang II, honestly, although they were nothing when compared to their predecessors. In my mind, I thought the styling wasn't too bad, but the drivetrain was lame. I've come to appreciate them even more, these days, just because you don't see them around all that much. Then again, I like a Chevy Citation for the same reason, so there's that...
