Picked up a new phone yesterday (dont tell Zorba) and bought a UAG case with a supposed magnet built in. The built-in magnet will not hold the phone on my truck dash mount at all (very very weak). I think its for a wireless charging feature rather than a mount. Can anyone recommend a rugged case with a built in mag that can actually hold the weight of the phone?

S24+ if it matters. Existing dash mount is a proclip that I'd like to keep.

I have iPhone but in my experience you need both MagSafe case and mount even if you are not using it to charge. I had to change out my standard magnets when I got a MagSafe case and switch to MagSafe magnets. I use bulletpoint for car phone mounts and amazon for cases.

Someone else I know needed to do the same thing.

Did some googling and looks like proclip sells a slim magnet ring kit that I may try on the outside of the case.

My previous phone was the same, I just had a slim magnet on the back of my otterbox case. It held for several years.

That works. I got tired of the metal on the back of the case so when I got a new phone and needed a new case I got a MagSafe.

I have a ring that came with my magnets. I'lll send it to you if you want.

Check out Quad Lock. They have MAG compatible cases that also have positive locking. They seem to position themselves as catering to motor sports communities. I’ve got one and it is rock solid no matter the conditions.

Going with a different case and a separate magnet for the back. Appreciate the offer though!

I use a peak design for my Pixel 8 Pro - I need the quad lock for the Jeep but in my other cars the magnet is more than enough to hold it (and adds wireless charging, if you are into that).
