This snake was filmed about 4 miles from my home, close to a job we are doing- a full grown timber rattler will be 44-48”. This one might exceed 60”.

Did anyone bbq it?

No, it got away- It was our female painter and she was not equipped to deal with it.

Now if you look up Opp, Alabama you will see a lot of people messing with them- Every year they have a rattlesnake rodeo.

I have a video of a guy with one that big- that was loose in his car. No joke. He was pretty calm about it.

I about lost my tractor like that. I was cruising down the road full boogie when I felt something bump one thigh then the other. I looked down and found a black snake coming out from under my seat. I'm not terrified of snakes, but I'm not a fan. Let's just say we were both scared as I tried to slow that tractor down and get off, and not necessarily in that order. Apparently I scared the snake pretty bad because a car behind me said they saw it drop out while I was still moving. I now check under my seats. :sneaky:

Man that is a recipe for getting hurt- I knew a guy who got into wasps bushhogging and got messed up so bad by the tractor -

I’m somewhat like you- snakes fascinate me , but I want to know where they are.

When I was bush hogging regularly, I used to find a yellow jacket nest at least once or twice a season, but I never once thought about jumping off. I'm guessing he did?

Yes. Awful move. Lucky he lived.

My "kid sister" (she's 60 years old) has always been a fan of all things critters. Used to be into tarantulas and lizards in her younger years, but over the past dozen years or so, she's been into raising turkeys (including two lame "house-pet" hens) and snakes. She currently has 4 boas and 8 ball pythons. Says the only room in her place that doesn't have a snake in it is the bathroom. Her bedroom houses five of the ball pythons.

I haven't visited my sister in years...

It's a tough choice depending on if the roll bar has been left on the tractor. Unless you jump straight off the back(and avoid mowers, tillers, etc) those mfers will run your dumb ass over and not care.

I've jumped off a couple due to mechanical failure and my own stupidity. Its a come to jesus moment every time. Even if i never made it to him, lol.

The mountainsides around here eat equipment operators, and tree fallers too.

Several of us where I used to work would catch venomous snakes for the local snake handling churches.

They would try and pay us for them, but it didn't seem right to take their money.

Went to Several of their church services, but never felt compelled to handle one in church.

How close did you get? What were your thoughts on that process. I’ve only seen it in Justified so I don’t know much about it. Guessing they have some anti- venom handy?

My dad used to go to the roundup outside of Sweetwater. We have some 8mm home movies of the roundup and there was a ton of rattle snakes.

I'm not sure what "the roundup" is, but I have a guess. One of my great grandpaws used to live in Homestead, FL back when it was still everglades, and he hunted wild bore and rattlesnake down there. I have a few pictures of some big snakes he shot, and a few baby rattles made from rattlesnakes. That was back before the big snakes got loose. I've seen pictures and video of what they're hunting down there now. Gators don't bother me, but there ain't no way I'm going out in the swamp knowing about some big ass snakes.
