Just got this 91 4 cal 5 speed and it has 31x10.50 15's. It has some sort of lift on it but I don't know how to tell how much and I'd like to buy new shocks for it to try to "stiffen" up the ride a bit. How do I know what shocks to order given the fact it's lifted. also any recommendations on what else to look for to make it a little tighter on the road? Thanks in advance.

You should probably start buy joining a YJ forum (wranglers from 87-96) rather than this tj forum (wranglers from 97-06)
I am not a YJ person at all, if in fact it is lifted it won't be much over 2 inches.
Going back to my CJ days, lord help my memory here, you still need to cycle the suspension to see what shock length you will need.
Keep in mind YJ springs were already a softer and longer spring than the CJ came with.
Look for a YJ forum and they can at least point you in the correct direction.

Just keep your profile here. After you've had your YJ for awhile, you'll want another Jeep and it will most likely be a TJ.
I've never heard of anyone with leaf springs trying to "stiffen up" the ride. The lift is most likely just a shackle lift.

there's only 1 way to make a YJ ride stiffer than they already do ! weld the axles straight to the frame . that will stiffen it up and keep you from wasting money on shocks.

Yeah, me too. I had a red YJ with tan interior and top just like yours. There are times I wish I kept it to beat around on it.
