Headlights not working right

When I put the switch in the first position only the markers turn on. That might be intended but it looks like it would turn the headlights on. And when they actually turn on in the last turn there is no light on the dash indicating it and one is dimmer. I have another bulb in the garage so the person in my family whom owned it last might have not changed them both. When I pull the stalk the highbeam light turns on but no lights turn on. And last but not least my fog lights work but there is a random connector by the radiator. This thing has caught on small fire like 3 times so it could be disconnected from that but what would it do? For example the hood light is disconnected after catching fire. One last random question. The knob that adjusts the lights inside the jeep ie gauges and radio has an adjustable area one click and then a second. The second click changes nothing. Any help? And sorry for the wall of text!

Multifunction switch-

One click- park/running lights

2 clicks headlights

Pull stalk back to dim/bright or flash lights

The only indicator is the blue meaning brights are on.

Knob rolled back the dimmer dims all progressively

Rolled on to first click gives you a lower setting on the odometer brightness

Next click makes odometer brighter, one more click and the interior lights come on

Clean the plug on the dimmer head light and then try a bulb

Get the loose plug taped and out of harms way- find a way to use it or lose it - small fires start big fires. It looks like a fog light plug to me and is hot only when stalk is pulled out and lights are on dim.

You can research- there is a simple way to get most models to cycle a test of all cluster lights.

The stock function is the fog lights can be turned on only with low beams. To have them on with hi-beams requires the fog light relay to be modified.

Thanks haha. Peopl on here always respond so fast lol. But I have another question to your answer. My fog lights work when stalk is pulled. Why is the plug there? I guess tomorrow I can check to see if the plug is hot and let you know what I find.
