The air fitting on my front 2005 rubicon axle is loose. It’s a new to me jeep. I just did a bunch of work and not sure if I caused it or if it’s been this way. Lockers worked the couple times I used them after buying it.

What’s on the other side of this n the diff? Is there a nut that backed loose and got eaten in my diff? Or is it just pressed in and connected to a hose of some sort?

I’m in the middle of relocating my pumps so can’t test it right now.

I’m getting ready to leave for a big cross country trip and don’t have a lot of time to spare so would rather not pop the cover unless I have to. But of course will if I have to. Hoping someone can tell me what this is supposed to be connected to on the other side.

It is an interference fit. When I put new stock fittings on my rusty new york rubi axles i put a small tac weld on them because they didn't want to stay. There is a small formed hose on the inside. Nothing to hold them in

Pretty sure it's just pressed in.

If you clean it up, epoxy should hold it (temporarily).
Maybe a retaining compound, like Loctite 609?

How do you just press it in?

Also do you need to drain the dif and take the cover off? If you do that then the inside rubber hose probably needs to be replaced also? What size and kind of hose?

I think you could even clean it and use silicone- fluid loss is what you want to avoid.

If/when you open the diff check the short lines- they eventually fail.
