Looking to purchase a spec M-65 and liner. Just wondering if anyone has any manufacturer and/or vendor recommendations.

Don't have a suggestion but I've still got my OD Green & then my Camo & Desert Camo jackets.... But it's the fact I'm old enough to have been issued a OD Green one & have SGT rank sewn on the collar...

OK reminiscing over.

If someone made a decent N1 deck coat that fit me, that's what I'd have. I actually have one, the largest I could find, mail ordered....and too small. Figured the M-65 had a better shot at fitting and is configurable.

I don't have any current recs, but are you looking for new or surplus/used?

Exactly, I would find an Army Navy surplus store and see what they had. A lot of times they will have NOS that never got used.

It's funny how different people react when they get out. Some hang onto stuff, some trash it. When one of my BIL retired from the Marines, he came home with a sack of stuff and the next time he seen me (I was a young teen) he handed it to me and told me to take what I wanted and toss the rest. He wasn't mad or anything. 12 years in and he was done with no want or need for any of the leftover stuff. I got a bit of pre-9/11 gear from him that I put to use.

Honestly I kept my field jacket and liner, everything thing else was donated to whoever wanted it.

I really wasn't a good recruit in the national guard. Back then (84 - 90) i attributed it to being able to think for myself 🤣 I was 21 when I went in and not the impressionable teen they really wanted. 🤣🤣🤣

I gave all my woodland camo stuff to some buddies who were into paintball games. I kept all my desert camo stuff....

And since I've lost all this weight I can fit into my fatigue's again now too.

I got a "new" surplus (Belgian/Dutch cant remember) last year from Coleman's. Its OK, but not great for real cold. I've bought lots of stuff from OldGrouch in NC over the years. He's back in biz after the floods.

Really though a modern softshell (even cheap brand) with a zip out fleece layer is superior.

Goodwill/Thrift around here I still see gear on the racks when I rarely pop in one.

As others have said, I'd check an Army/Navy surplus place. Good change they'd have one. I kept my BDU jacket, well I thought it was mine. At one point I guess my roommate and I got ours switched, so he has mine and I have his. Haha.

I got rid of a decent amount of my stuff including the extra CIF gear that I "acquired" while I was in. Kept a set of BDUs, set of ACUs, the cold weather stuff we were issued, laundry bag, duffel and the huge ACU ruck they gave us. Oh, and I did keep all my dress greens. Maybe one day I'll get all the right ribbons on there...
