I bought a 2003 Wrangler, My first. The transmission mount was blown out and instead of replacing it. The young man I bought it from just took out the center console parts and a little trimming so he could get it in 1st and 2nd gear. Here's my problem; I replaced the mount and the transmission won't move back to the center of the opening. It is leaning very hard to the drivers side. I put a little pressure with a jack on the drivers side of the transfer case but it didn't move at all. There looks to be a support on the passengers side coming from under the trans and goes up the side about 5in I can't see anywhere it could mount to. below is a pic of the bracket looking down. Any help is much appreciated so I can get things put back together and enjoy my new ride.

Shroud is pretty much gone

That'll need to be addressed before summer. You might want to check the fan clutch before then too.

When installing do you have to lift the motor up high, or just get the weight off the mounts?

An inch or two of clearance should let you get them in. I'd loosen the transmission mount bolts so you don't tear it up in the process.

Do you have any lift? I ask because this would be time to install a 1" motor mount spacer for certain lifting and bigger tire situations.

I was planning on putting a 3 core aluminum with shroud and electric fan assembly. I believe it has a 3in suspention lift and 3in body lift. It's sitting on 33in tires.

Pictures would help! 3" body lift is massive. We usually recommend 1 to 1.25".

When installing do you have to lift the motor up high, or just get the weight off the mounts? I've always disconnected trans from motor to lift it but I'm not that young anymore. If I take the weight off would I be able to slip the old out and new motor mounts in?

I put a block of wood on a jack under the oil pan. Gentle pressure then one motor mount at a time. Never had an issue but also never had your “shifted” tranny problem

That piece you're pointing to is a bracket for the exhaust. Support rod from 3rd cat fits in the bracket hole.
