231J transfer shifter wont go to 2WD, stuck in neutral

This the position of the tcase lever. Is that 2wd?

Honestly hard to tell from a picture.

On that lever all the way forward on the vehicle and up is 2wd.

In this video I'm talking about a missing snap ring but I do eventually shift the case. Watch that part.

Like Mac said, it's hard to tell from a picture at that angle. Need to remove front driveshaft and shoot pictures more straight on to see it well enough.

On mine, as near as I can see with the DS and skid in place:
4-Lo = lever is to the rear, almost touching the housing, about 5:15 or 5:30
N = lever is straight down, about 6:00
4-Hi = lever is slightly toward the front, about 6:30 or 6:45
2-Hi = lever is more toward the front, about 7:30

Then I guess am stock in 2wd. Moving past 4hi is extremely hard, dont even think its fully engine in 4hi, because when shifter handle inside the jeep is at 4hi, it drops down to 2wd position if i dont hold it up. Also hearing gear noise if I try to force it past the 4hi position.

The linkage under the jeep could cause all this mess? I hope that all it needs and not a tcase.

Here are more images I just too. The savvy cable arrive, I am getting ready to install.

What do you think of the tcase lever position, is it in 2wd? Cant move farther up. One of the image is a view from under the hole of the skid plate.

Just follow the instructions for installing the cable shifter... it'll make sense...I think you're overthinking things. Make sure you get the nut back on that lever...and yes...you can clock that lever wrong. Look at my video above for the right position.

I was referring to the shifter at the tcase. I have the cable installed, but the lever in the jeep won't reach 4H, and goes back down.
