What did you do to your TJ today?

My sister had a 2.5L i-5 VW Jetta for a while. It sounded good, but the 2.5L had the power of a 4-cylinder with the fuel consumption of a 6-cyl. :(
My Volvo 5 cylinder makes 120 horsepower per liter. For the math impaired, that means 300 horsepower.

Reverting to the thread topic, I drove the TJ to work today.

Took the TJ out to hunt for snow. Found some heading up to Calispell Pk. Didn't go all the way to the top but I did get up to about 4000ft heading around the north side of Boulder Mt following snowmobile tracks. About 8 to 10 inches of surger snow with 1.5 inches of crust on top. No problem getting through but I was by myself so turned around and headed back down. Should maybe have another jeep along just for safety.

Aired down here.

The gap was only snowmobile wide so I made it tj wide with the help of my atlas 18" chainsaw. Took all 18 inchs plus some.

This is where I turned around. All said, it was a great therapy day. Love my tj.

GM can ruin a wet dream. Is there anything they can't fuck up? As for the 5 cylinder idea, there's more theories that abound as to the why of it, and they're all wrong. Mercedes created the 5 cyl OM 617 engine out of the 4 cyl OM 616 engine by adding an additional cylinder and some very careful crankshaft engineering. They didn't do it for "almost the power of a 6 and almost the economy of a 4" - they did it because they did indeed want more power, and a 6 cylinder wouldn't fit in the W115 chassis of the day. So they went to all that trouble, then replaced the W115 2 years later with the all new W123.

There were options even in 1968 , The father of the LS , SBC !

Went to my local battery shop and learned about AGM batteries needing higher charging voltage. Picked up this battery maintainer and lighter socket adapter. It has settings for lead/acid, AGM, and lithium and does 6 and 12 volt. Plugged it into my lighter socket.
My 2004 LJ doesn't have a voltage regulator so I'll look at adding an external AGM one. Any advice?

Why do you think your 2004 LJ doesn't have a voltage regulator? You are aware that stock it's in the PCM, right?

My Interstate battery dealer sold me on charging my AGM battery with an AGM charger and suggested adding an AGM external voltage regulator. Just wondered if anyone had done that. like https://alternatorparts.com/
For now I'll plug in the NOCO maintainer set for AGM when I'm not driving it.
From the Interstate web page:
An AGM-compatible battery charger sends more amps into a lead-acid battery while keeping the voltage less than 14-15 volts. AGM chargers go through the three charging phases (bulk, absorption and float) just like a regular charger.

No I used Raptor liner reduced 10% and shot with the world famous Harbor Freight purple HVLP gun. I was very happy with the results. Hope to get the rear installed soon.

I used this same mix for my hardtop refinish and so far have been pleased. Planning on doing my bumpers (and maybe rockers) with it as well.
