A/C for a non A/C Jeep

I am thinking this winter when I am not driving the Jeep I may go about installing AC finally. I know Jeep Air makes a reportedly good quality OEM style kit. Which is a tad pricey, not insane though. Was wondering though, would I be able to pull an AC system from a XJ and throw it in? Considering buying a parts XJ or TJ just for extra parts and such. I also say this because I could easily find a parts XJ for the same price it costs to get just AC for my TJ. Has anyone else done this?

As would I, but I am curious if it is possible or if the line set, HVAC controls, and evap would work. I fix ACs and such for a living, so I know what it’s like trying to fix a 20+ year old system.
