33”x12.5R15 tires on my stock 15x8 rims?

My 5 year old tires completely gave out and am needing to replace them without going down in size. Don’t have the money to spend on new BFG KO2s, so am thinking about Goodyears. They don’t make a 33x10.5R15, which I had been running. Would a 33x12.5R15 work on my stock 2002 Sahara 15x8 rims?

I have a 3.5 inch lift on the Jeep, but no spacers.

Yes, 12.50 width runs fine on stock rims.

Stock Ravines, 33x12.5R15. Had these for about 6 years.

With 1.5” Spidertrax spacers and one washer on each steering stop. Also the axles have to be well-centered with an adjustable trackbar front and rear

If you don't run wheel spacers you'll have to go with a 10.5 width tire.

This is what happened when the original owner of my Jeep installed 33x12.50R15 tires on the factory Gamber wheels without spacers. After trashing all four tires, he added 1.5" spacers but didn't replace the tires and i was unlucky enough to find out about it 300+ miles from home while getting an oil change. I don't like spacers so I vote buy the proper backspaced wheels or run a 10.5 tire.

I’ve got 32”x11.5 on ravines and if I don’t run spacers it’ll rub. Sure you can adjust the stops but I didn’t like the restriction on turn radius. I’m thinking the spacers at 1.25”.

I should have added that spacers are mandatory with 12.5 width on stock wheels. Many understandably don't like to run spacers, but if they are of good quality, are properly installed, and maintained, they are a safe alternative to custom wheels.

I had a similar experience. I could barely turn the Jeep on the 2 hour ride home. No lift either.

2.5 inch lift. 33x12.50's. Stock ravines. 1.5 inch spacers. No problems.

That was a pic from a D.C. apartment parking lot where I bought it and IT WAS DIRTY! My wife loved it because it was an auto so she could drive it. I sold it several weeks later.

p.s. I opted for a duck shirt like @John Cooper so nobody could see it while I'm driving.

I didn't trust the cut sidewalls to make the 300 mile/4½ hour drive home so I called around looking for cheap 31x10.50R15 tires on hand. I got lucky enough to find a tire shop in town that had four Patagonia MTs on hand that would install them that day. Had the Pats installed, drove home, ordered a new set of 33x10.50-15 Badak Xtremes, and had them installed.

Lol here ya go. First pic is recently with the new lift, axles, wheels, etc. The other two are from when it had the old cheap SuperLift and Gambler wheels that the original owner had on it.
