Clean Black

Every black 05/06 LJ Rubicon I've ever seen, including my 06, had these little spider web looking imperfections under the clear coat.

Every single one.

I don't think I'll be able to fix that without a total repaint.

Damn I haven't seen my jeep look that clean in......forever? I'm jealous.

The road to my house is a muddy, bouncy, off-road fun-fest so my jeeps (and car) are always dirty. I wash em from time to time but they are muddy the very next day.

That sucks @Ahoragi, there is just something hot about a super clean black Jeep. Nestle has had a concrete contractor working on the parking lot the past 2 weeks. I parked pretty far away from the work, they were scoring the lines and other finish work. The wind must have been blowing just perfect because HRNT is covered in white concrete dust. Inside and out.

Not clean ...but clean!

I'm not sure if we are talking about the same situation, but if your talking about the spider webs ,that are super visible on black paint, with a proper polishing, those are easily removed. Cheers =)

They pretty much cover the hood and are really only visible upon close inspection. It looks like it's under the clear coat. I read somewhere that jeep screwed up during the paint process and let the vehicles sit too long before having applied the clear coat.

I'll try to get a close up shot if I remember tomorrow.

I'd like to get all the paint imperfections fixed including rock chips on the windshield surround and stuff like that. I've gone through most of them with a rust inhibitor and touch-up paint but now instead of having a chip it's an uneven dried glob of black paint.

You can't see it unless you get right up on it. It annoys me that it's there but I certainly can't afford a repaint. It seems to only be where there is lots of heat. I read it has something to do with jeep screwing up the timing. They'll never own up to it I'm sure!

edit: they're all over but much more so up front where the engine heat is/goes.

Sorry folks! I have painted about a dozen vehicles in the garage. All but one turned out great in the long run. Ya the odd ball was black? What a PITA.
Now I have a section of black on my Goldwing that looks lick shit and it is a 2015 with no obvious (dirty washing) issues. I just think blacks sucks. Plus it is hotter that hell where I wheel!

My 01 cherokee started looking like that on the hood a few years back. Now the paint is fading and peeling off. I blamed the heat of the cramped 4.0.

On the other hand, my 99 TJ shows no signs of that.
