Camper King USA hard top review

A couple photos of the hardware. I purchased a best top window storage kit and it fits the lj windows just fine. It’s got thin paper type dividers so the windows won’t scratch. Will work great for keeping them nice.

Maybe my Jeep has a Camper King hardtop. I know from the build sheet it didn't come with a hardtop. Is the factory hardtop lined on the inside? This one is. I'm in San Diego, so that might make sense. I will say the front seal needs work, as it will whistle loudly when the speed and wind are just right. Camper King or stock?

The back window will give that answer.

Don't see any label. Is that what you mean? Note the fold down third brake light. Thought it would be useful, hasn't proven it's worth.

You might try tightening the hardware down some to get rid of the whistle as the only seal should be the one permanently attached to your windshield.

That windshield seal isn't replaceable? Thanks for the tip, I'll put a wrench to it. I hope to get a soft top when the weather warms up, so I expected to replace the seal then.

I used the wrong term when I said permanently, I’m sure you can replace it though.

1945GPW, hows life with your Camper King top with a few months on it? I looked at their site I couldn't find how much the paint match and the sunroof up grade cost. I have a Sahara Rubi also, what was the color code you used? does it match the factory hardtop color very closely?

I’ve been meaning to do a follow up, thanks for the reminder.

Save yourself a big headache and don’t buy one of these. The hard top itself seemed durable but the back door is made cheap and everything that had a rubber seal leaked. It was horrible trying to wash the jeep, I’d have more water inside than with my soft top, this thing leaves puddles of water everywhere! The sun roof was awesome but also leaked with temperature changes.
When I originally contacted Hector ( the owner ) he assured me there were no leaks, unfortunately it’s made with cheap components.. the worst of it is he said to return the hardtop and he would refund my money. Well it’s been about 2 months and still no money. They keep lying about sending the money back and just about everything. Long story short, stay far far away from these lying thieves.

Still like mine, though. Unusually rainy season here in S Cal. No leaks if you get the rear seal over the top of the back gate. Tightened down the front per instructions and eliminated the whistle. No trouble at all.

I am glad yours is treating you well. There are multiple people on their Facebook page with the same problems as me with nothing being resolved.

Mine was leaking at the top and both sides of the rear door. Not just the bottom seal. Also the sun roof seam would leak and the side window seams. Literally puddles of water in my Jeep after washing it.

When a business offers to refund your money if you return the item I’d hope they would honor that. I’ve been holding off on giving them a bad review in hopes they would come through but doesn’t look like they will. Well there goes 2k+

On another note my original hard top I purchased a few weeks ago has been great. Think I will get a carpet kit and do like camper king did with the inside of theirs as I really liked the headliner.

Thanks for the review.. I was really close to buying a camper king top for my LJ ... looks like I will hold off and buy a factory top!

I wish there had been some negative reviews before I decided to buy it but couldn’t find much info on them. Boy what a headache that ordeal was.. They did however finally refund me for the top minus $200 for a damage fee after putting my experience with them on their Facebook page. Lol they didn’t like that to much and sent the check out within a hour.

I paid $1500 for an original khaki hard top and haven’t been happier. Just keep yours eyes open on Craig’s list.

I do appreciate the info, I have been keeping my eyes open.. I will definitely go the factory hardtop route for sure..
I’m glad you were able to get the majority of your money back.

OP you should update your original post at the beginning. Just to let any casual readers know from the jump that they are not worth the money. Some won't read this far.

Having said that. That sucks. I live in socal. And after reading the first page was pretty sure I'd buy one and drive down and pick it up. I think I'll hold out for an original. My TJ came from the factory with a hard top. So all the wiring and tubing is there.

Great idea! But I’m not seeing a edit button on my original post, am I even able to edit it?

At the very bottom of everyone of your own posts is an "Edit" button. It also helps with follow up pics or information. You can add it all to your original post if you want.
