Can I run half doors with a hardtop?

This year I’m using a hard top that I bought used instead of the factory soft top. I have full hard doors. I’d like to ride around without the doors, but have something in the back that I can pop in when it’s parked, or something to prevent against rain. The full hard doors are not an option for this, so I’m thinking about half hard doors. I suppose that I’ll have to use the door surrounds with the hard top? Will that work?
There will still be some leakage I guess, so I’m thinking of creating a seal from the old soft top which is kind of crappy. Something that will wrap around the door surrounds so I can run half doors with the hardtop. Anyone do this?

Get full soft doors.

Storing any kind of steel doors inside your rig is a bad idea. If you get into an accident, they become extremely dangerous and unpredictable projectiles. There's simply no good way to strap them down inside to prevent them from becoming a danger to the back of your head.

Are there any the work good? Every Jeep with soft doors that I've ever been in either require some trick to close or that you slam it shut, opening is just as difficult.

Full soft doors or half soft ones?

My half doors close normally. No slamming required.

I have a Bestop set. They work just fine. The only metal in them is what holds the fabric in place. You can adjust them by hand to get them to fit properly.

If your intent is to run without doors, soft doors are just a back-up to keep the elements out. That’s the only reason you’ll need them. Even if the fit isn’t the greatest, you’re not going to be using them for long periods.

Check out eBay. That’s where I picked mine up.

The whole trick to closing it thing is because the latch gets a bit bent and doesn't allign correctly. The parts can sorta be bent back but the latches can also be replaced to fix it right. I suspect it's people slamming the door with the latxh closed that does it.

There must have been a time
when we could have said no.

I only have half doors and a hardtop. They work fine, just avoid the car wash....

Any door & top combination works fine. Yep you'd need door surrounds for half-doors.
Yep. We used to meet once a month to determine what combinations we felt were appropriate . We relaxed on it and let you “run what ya brung”

Just get permission before you regear or anything major.
