Should I buy a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with 140k miles?

What? The 2004 Unlimited has a sub. It replaced the Sahara package for that year as the top trim package. There were no options offered other than color. You couldn't even get a manual transmission. Different packages only became available in 2005. If your 2004 LJ doesn't have a Dana 30 and Dana 44 with 3.73 gears it isn't stock, they weren't sold any other way.
A/C, auto dimming rear view mirror and cruise control were all options on the 04 LJ’s (the correct term is TJ Unlimited) and you had the choice of a hard top or soft top, but no dual top option was available (not in Canada anyways)

This thread took a 9 month jump between posts 93 & 94, with a lot of missing information...what was determined in the end to be the condition of the frame? @Tzerambo, did you end up buying the Unlimited or not?

I was just thinking the same thing. He was all fired up asking all the questions, getting all kinds of good advice about buying his uncle's TJ Unlimited or not.... Then "boom".... nothing. No .... I bought it, it's working out great, rust isn't that bad or I found rust flakes in the frame....nothing. Hummmmm?

Wow... you learn something every day. I assumed ALL LJs had the sub, came with Dana 44 in rear and Dana 30 upfront... STOCK.
It is nice having the sub but other than a pack of gum, you ain't putting much in the center console. I believe on my title it also says Sport and I kept telling both the insurance company and finace company that it is an Unlimited above all else and needs to be written up that way.

Yes I bought it a few months ago I just haven’t said anything about it and the frame has a decent amount of surface rust but I took a wire brush with a drill attachment and sprayed some rust converter as a primer and then went back with a flat black paint

People are rightfully saying check the frame. I would add inside specifically. At very least, there are several holes big enough to let you stick your finger in and feel around. If there are big flakes coming off all over the place this is a concern.

I had some surface rust and the tiniest bit of flake inside mine. No thin spots. I smacked it front to back with a heavy hammer to knock anything loose off, rinsed it out with a hose, let it dry thoroughly over the course of several days. Then I got Eastman Interior Frame Coating. 4 cans, 2 per side, and coated the inside with it.

The body seems to be clear of any major rust as from under the carpet you cannot see any rust.

I would double check the inside. Also, I used Eastwood Internal Frame coating and rust just started to form again last I checked. You need to check regularly and DRILL DRAINAGE HOLES AS WELL!!!
