Suggestions for mod for wasted console dash space

Hi all,
I’ve got a blank space just under my temp controls. See pic, it’s just a big square of plastic, I figure it’s for options that I don’t have. While I have the dash apart for a radio instal, I’m thinking I might rig something up to gain storage space here. Happy to have suggestions.

I’m thinking about cutting this out and putting some type of cup or tray there that will hold my phone.

Get one of those magnetic phone holders and mount it there. My Tj had one mounted to the top of the center bezel when I bought her. When I removed the bezel to upgrade the bad oem radio I found the sticky metal piece that went with it. Guess the po lost it in the Jeep before he could use it. I stuck it on my phone and it works great. Very handy. Here’s a pix.

Although mine is older, but I think you can get two older stock switch powers and put them together.
This picture close up looks sort of wonky but they are actually straight and look good together.

The switches on the left are for lights throughout the TJ. The switches on the right are for the front and rear lockers. The first one is for power to the second and third switches and the second and third switches are the front and rear lockers.

Underneath the left switches is a power outlet with a volt meter and temp gauge. The switches on the right (Plan B) is my power and in and out for my winch.

Hi all, thanks for the very creative suggestions! Glad I'm not alone in needing to reclaim the blank space. I cut the blank out and then made a box inside. It's not huge but big enough to hold the garage opener.
