Just noticed that the rear tires on my 2003 Jeep Wrangler Sahara are wearing on the outside on both sides. Wondering why and is there someone out there that could help me find the problem.

would the control arms have something to do with tire
Probably not, if both are wearing the outside, the axle housing is bent which is most likely causing your tire wear. Pull the wheels, put on a straight edge on the wheel mounting surface and measure front to rear. If there is ANY difference, it is bent.

If it’s lifted there’s no telling ...but it’s likely the axles aren’t centered and squared , tires under inflated , and possibly tires too wide for the rims.

My vote is no telling ...every TJ I see in the mainstream population , for the most part , is a mess. Not talking about here ...this is where the knowledge is and gets applied. Man it’s a crap shoot to buy most of them out in the general population, in terms of good set up. It actually sounds like a camber issue...that would be swell.

True, and we really cant diagnose without at least 1 pic of the wear.

It would be interesting to see it from the back also. I think this is the first thread I have ever seen of odd rear tire wear.

Thanks for your input all of you! It looks like the passenger side tire is the one that is wearing the most, the driver side seems to be ok. Here are a couple of photos to try and show the wear. I am wondering if I took it in for a wheel alignment if that would show if the rear wheel alignment is out.
