2003 Rubicon: Can you drive with a bad camshaft synchronizer?

Other things- how is it possible that so many people lack the ability or foresight to hop on Rock Auto, click on TJ, ignition, distributor, camshaft synchronizer, OPDA, click on part number and then look at the buyer's guide that tells you which years have what?
I am still curious as to if there are different markings on the various makers OPDA's or is there another way to see what I have in there now. I know I have an OPDA, it is an 06 with a 4.0. What I do not know is has the original been replaced.

OK, after a bit of contortionist movements and lots of research, it appears I have an original OPDA, this based on the sticker I found on the side. the part number is the sameness crown, but, the LDI inc and Rev-E seems to be OEM
