Hi, I'm a young broke highschool student but I love ti upgrade my Tj. Currently, I've got a 2.5in rough country suspension lift(i know its not the best but it was cheap). I've also got some KO2 33x12.5x15's on it. I want to get the lift up to 4 in however I don't have a lot of money. I'm thinking of adding some 1.5in spring spacers to get me to that hight. i know its not the best thing to do but its the cheapest option. Should I consider another cheaper option? Also what other cheap upgrades will I need when I add the lift? Thank you!!

Why not save your money? That’s a valuable piece of advice and will come in handy in life.

Spring spacers will work, depending on how high you want it to be. You’ll run into other issues beyond 2” of lift such as the need for adjustable control arms, SYE / CV driveshaft, etc.

Yeah, it would be really nice to save the money. Since I'll be at 4in of lift I'll definitely need to get some adjustable lower control arms.

I would add a 1.25 inch body lift and throw on a MML to help out your driveline angle and get to the desired lift height. That would basically get you a total of 3.75". Wheel the shit out of the rough country lift and replace it with a quality 3" lift sometime after high school when money allows.

Nice TJ btw!

That sounds really good. this might be a dumb question, but would adding .25 more to get the 1.5in to be worth it? Or is it better to do the 1.25?

Just do the Savvy 1.25" body lift. I'm sure others will chime in and say it's probably the best body lift option out there. And I might have most of the components for a 4" freeing up soon if you'd be interested in that? I just upgraded my lift and the previous 4" is in good condition. I have all 4 springs, rear upper and lower control arms, and rear track bar. You'd need new shocks (I wouldn't even bother selling you the ones I took off, they're shot), and front upper and lower control arms.

I personally wouldn't worry about 1/4", that's pretty much negligible. I have a Zone BL and MML that I'm pretty happy with; I bought there 4.25" combo lift. I think there may be other BL/MML's that others on this site would recommend also.

ill take a look at the Savvy 1.25 lift but I was hoping o add spring spacers because I thought that adding a body lift would make more problems I would have to buy more stuff for. Also, I'd love to look into what you're pulling off for the 4"!

Agree with majority here. First of all, if money is tight, save your money. Don’t empty EVERY pocket lol. If you need a little more lift, do the body lift and MML.

x4 or x5 Save your money kid! Patience is a Virtue. I’m in College I saved up for all the Right parts I wanted for my jeep. Over the semester I acquired a SYE, savvy tcase shifter, savvy body lift, 1” MMl, Jks rear trac bar just waiting to get installed after the holidays. I just drove my jeep how I bought it. If something broke I replaced it but still saving up for the parts. Like Chris said saving money is going to come in handy in life. You never know when something is going to go wrong with your jeep. Having some money saved up will go a long ways. It also looks like your having fun with your current setup. Just wheel it and save for the right parts.

Body lift will be much cheaper than adding suspension lift. You are almost into the SYE, new driveshaft, adjustable control arms, new shocks, track bars, etc. territory if you add more suspension lift.

The body lift also sets you up for many more improvements down the road like raising the gas tank skid, belly, extending shock towers, etc. You'll get a lot more bang for your buck with the body lift.

Save up until you have enough to buy the Savvy body lift, transfer case shifter, and motor mount lift and do that before more suspension lift.

^ space to work, and to move things up later

get on those funky lookin spots by the belly skid bolts. keep those clean and painted.

Rust and fluid changes should be at the top of everybody's upgrade list. And they are both affordable. Get a good 6 months or more of Jeep seat time to find out what upgrades you actually need. Everybody is different in what they expect to do and just putting on parts because that's what others have done will keep you chasing the Jones' your whole life and keep you poor the whole time. You do you. Follow the leader is for 8 year olds.

And welcome to the forum!

I've heard bad things about a body lift though. I'm scared that if I raise it up 1.25" ill have problems with my gas thing not reaching the body, my shifter(i have the 5 speed) getting stuck in places
