What did you do to your TJ today?

See. Buddy helped

Tell you what I'll be doing Sunday. My wife is taking the kids to a friends house for a Superbowl party. I could give two chits about football so as much as I'd like to keep the kids busy and play in their pool, I'll be going over every ground and electrical connection front of firewall to try to trace down a possible O2 sensor gremlin. Goin' to get all touchy-feely with the shortbus while the wife and kids are gone. 😈

Polished the wheels for the first time in a very long time. Buddy helped.

Does anyone know where to find a similar wheel to these Eagle Alloys? They are 8 hole (decor, not bolt pattern obviously) and I think they would just be aluminum since they build up crap/pitting over time. They came on my 2004 Sport when I got in 2007. I'd like to get the spare time
and tire matching. The other 4 since they are new. The spare time is a stocker rim of some sort.

American Racing Baja wheels look similar. My dad had a set on a truck years ago. Maybe cheaper other places, that's just the first site that came up.

I started taking parts of my late beloved 2000 tj to start making a pile of upgrades for my maybe new 2001 tj that I test drove and took to the mechanic for a new car inspection. I sure wish I had a rack to put things up on it was so nice to walk around under it looking at all the things.

Little sisters break all your best toys :( But both her and the tree are going to be ok

Need a lift upgrade like this for my garage
IMG-0356.JPG

It has a lot of little things like burned out bulbs, wiper sprayers don't work, visor is missing, nothing that is too big and all the things I can get off my donor jeep. The more real issues are a oil pan gasket, the lifter tick that all of mine so far have had at one point, and then the next picture is one I have a question on. This is the transfer case and I would have expected it to be translucent but it is like pepto bismal you can't see through it at all. The rig looks like it was never taken off road and the guy selling it sais he and the prior owner used it for a fun run around no offroading. they both toed it with their motor home.

Question. Is peptobismal expected color situation for the transfer case (ashamed I hae never changed one I always have a shop do the oils)

Is this an issue for concern? what is the remediation. drain fill repeat until it is translucent like atf?

Thanks

Your new LJ looks a little short.😉

It looks like the transfer case got water in it. It could be the seals or water getting in through the vent hose. I would pull the back of the TC and give it a good inspection. If all is good clean it and refill it with new fluid.

Thanks I hadn't been in to a jeep transfer case but all the times I have had milky fluids it was water and no good. I will put that top on the list to take care of if I get it.

Ya its is nice however no one has hacked in to it yet so I can put the goods on it I want. All the suspention busshings are dried out and I was joking with my mechanic friend it seemed like the only reasonable solution was to replace them all and while I was at it put a lift on it.

The front Dif seal is also leaking and so again the only reasonable solution seems to upgrade the axles. ;)

Thanks for the confirmation on the transfer case.

If the rest of the Jeep is in good condition and the price is right I wouldn't make it a deal breaker. A np231 can be had pretty cheap. Most likely it will be fine with fresh fuids, though. It might be a good negotiating point if its from a dealer.

Does anyone know where to find a similar rim to these? It's an Eagle Alloys 15" rim with 8 decorative holes on the standard lug pattern. Idk the actual finish, but they build up gunk over time. They don't have a finish. I'd like to get a 5th matching rim and tire for the spare since the tires are new. @Davidtj @k-huevo

Thanks guys that was my hope. The rest of the jeep seems good other than I think some minor things but I do plan to go talk to him tomorrow and lay out my concerns on the oil pan, front dif, transfer case, (all repairable but should be reflected in the price) and ask what his bottom dollar is because I would like to buy it, and he would like to unload it and so we should work some thing out that is good for us both.

Just saying it's a 15" Eagle alloy wheel isn't really enough information...

Edit: it looks like they're discontinued, Pro-comp, Ultra, and American racing all have a similar wheel but you'd have to see them in person to decide for yourself... Good luck!

I have one of those in 3.25 BS, and I couldn't find a single replacement. This model is similar https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004J356BW/?tag=wranglerorg-20
The ION Alloy is 3.5 BS, which is close enough for a spare.
