Looking for advice on a 2 inch lift for my LJ

Thank you ! I do have a question , what is BL ? Yes I probably will go this route . Any other mods needed for this lift ? Track bar ? Suspension ? Thanks, KEG

Get adjustable tracks bars front and rear... though rear cam be an extension bracket.. i still reccomend a adj track bar.

Might need coil spring spacers and bumpstops of .5 to an inch.. just measure it out.

I think if you go with rancho schocks for 0-2 inches... you wont need bumpstop extensions.

If you plan on going to 33's and 4.25 inches of lift... go with rancho shocks for 2-3 inches of lift... and add 10 mm coil spacers. (40 bucks)

Cycle the suspension and see if you need any bumpstop extensions.. i needed 1 inch or so and bought hockey pucks for spacers lol. (Thanks chris)

Overall.. i spent around 1k for this setup...exclusing the BL and mml.

Yep, the gear quote is a fair price.

Yep, it's when you get over 1.25" of body lift that it's bad. A 1.25" body lift is actually preferred since it gives you more room for up-travel (before the tires hit the fenders), and it sets you up for mods in the future such as a tummy tuck.

Not to mention they are cheap, which is another good thing (y)
@Chris that 1600 price is with him supplying the gears, bearings, and seals. Seems steep. 1600 in labor? At the most I would pay $500 an axle.

Oh wow, that's a rip off then.

I thought that was including the parts. $600 for hears, plus $1000 for both axles.

$1600 not including parts is a rip off. I've done two re-gears, and the most I ever paid was $400 per axle for the re-gear, plus I bought parts.

Most of these shops that do re-gears can knock them out in a day, they are that experienced.

One concern I have is that I have heavy duty springs built for the rear because I tow a camper so ... I am concerned these new springs with lift won’t handle the weight even thought I use a weight distribution hitch . Any thoughts ? I know not many people tow with there Jeep but I specifically sought out this model Jeep to pull this camper and it does fine . I didn’t want a four four , no offense to any one but just not what I was looking for , this thing is long enough for me to get around in the woods in 😊

The heavy duty springs will be fine for that camper, trust me.

I’m more concerned with how much that weighs 😜

2600 dry weight , 3100 -3300 loaded , the LJ is rated at 3500 ..... but believe me I know how scary it looks ha! I have awesome trailer brakes , huge tranny cooler and a great weight distribution hitch and anti sway bars 😊.

Phew! It definitely looks like it’s more than that, which is why I was concerned.

Yes sir I understand, I ran across a guy who was towing my same camper with a TJ . He swore it pulled great .... and maybe it did but that it was way over a TJ’s towing capacity ..... now that looked scary !!

So you think the springs from a lift kit such as the more suggested here on this thread would be fine ?

That is scary indeed!

Some people have no regard whatsoever for towing capacity or the need to upgrade things like brakes, transmission coolers, etc. it’s good to know you’ve done your homework 👍

Those Casida's are pretty light in comparison to most that size. Good choice. My daughter has a smaller version of a Scamp. I've towed it with my TJ to move it around for her and isn't too bad.

Yes sir , actually the scamp was before casita , the family who makes Casita are related to the ones who make scamps . The only diff is casita has a fiberglass floor where scamp has wooden . I love mine, I can run the whole thing off a Honda 2200 generator 😊

Hydroboost brakes and a big brake setup should be in your future plans if lifting. Would make a huge difference.
