Jensen Heavy Duty Radio

I didn't even want bluetooth - just another button I'd have to deal with and I wouldn't use it anyway. The JVC I put in the Benz has it, I have yet to even bother with pairing my flip to it. I really should I guess, but half the time the phone stays at home anyway.

The "easy to operate" is a large part of my interest - by eliminating features I'll never use, the panel looks much simpler than most.
That's my gripe with most of today's aftermarket car stereos, too many "features" with a poor and confusing user interface. My Kenwood head unit is unbelievably confusing and difficult to operate, and that's with me having a very high tech electronic and high-end computer background. I have to keep the owner's manual in the glove box to refer to, I have a hell of a time figuring it out if I haven't used it recently.

You're not the only one! I'm a retired electronics and computer tech and sometime engineer, and I *really* don't like a lot of today's technology. I worked for a then very well known industrial computer and EPROM programmer company many years ago - the amount of effort we expended to make our products easy to use and intuitive was immense. Little things like the "pleasant low tone" to indicate successful EPROM programming was detailed to death. Of course, buttons/switches were engineered to the Nth degree. I don't see that with many of today's products, and yea - aftermarket stereos are ridiculous! My JVC has a kazillion little buttons in odd shapes and locations that are really hard to use.

But don't get me started on gratuitous tech, and tech for its own sake - such as we see in new vehicles! And I'd really rather have a KNOB to tune with, thank you very much! Never mind the menu driven, multi-function mania...

Exactly, I'd love having simple butt-simple knobs for volume, tuning, bass and treble.

Did you see the link I posted above, Jerry?

Here is how that stereo looks in my XJ @Fouledplugs @Yellow_Machine @Rubi04 @Chris.

It's an excellent radio. I love the BT connectivity and hands free calling. I'll be buying one for my TJ as well. The orange light is very pleasant and not overly bright or distracting in any way.

Can you have the clock visible all the time? That is the only thing I hate about my cheap 25 dollar Walmart special. Well that and the reception isn't very good in several spot on the way to work. LOL

I want to see the clock, not the radio station or the BT Music. I already know that, I don't know the time. LOL

I really like the looks of this radio. :D

You bring up a good question. I recall there was an option via the "DISP" button, but I don't remember if it put the time visible all the time. Let me check and confirm for you. I have a separate clock in my XJ .. and I like it. Wish all cars had one dedicated like that!

Thanks,

Yah I agree with you as far as a dedicated clock. I have debated on buying a cheap clock at Walmart, but those don't light up and I drive at night when I go to work. My radio does have a clock, but you have to push a button and then it goes away after a few seconds.

I'm actually thinking of installing a backlit analog clock if I can find a place to put it. I have a very nice VDO that came out of an early 70s Mercedes that would be killer!

Honestly I didn't even think about looking for something that is back lit. I went to amazon and found something that should work. It plugs into a cig lighter, but I can probably just hard wire to the fuse panel. It comes on with the key (hooked up properly) and then when it shuts off, it has a rechargeable battery inside of it that keeps the time so it doesn't drain the Jeep battery. :D

I just checked this in my radio ... I could not get it to display the time without it going back to displaying other things after a short while. Other than that this is a really really good ready.

Thanks for the info. I think I will go with one of the cheap Amazon backlit clocks. LOL
